On January 7, 2014, President Barack Obama nominated Max Sieben Baucus to be Ambassador of the United States of America to China. The Senate confirmed him on February 6, 2014 and Vice President Joe Biden swore him in on February 21, 2014.

Ambassador Baucus formerly served as the senior United States Senator from Montana. He served in the U.S. Senate from 1978 to 2013, was Montana’s longest serving U.S. Senator, and had the third longest tenure among those serving in the U.S. Senate. Ambassador Baucus was Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Finance, Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Taxation, member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, and member of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction. He was also a member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and chaired its Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Before his election to the U.S. Senate, Ambassador Baucus was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1975 to 1978. He previously served in the Montana House of Representatives from 1973 to 1974.

Ambassador Baucus has extensive experience in international trade. As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Ambassador Baucus led the passage and enactment of Free Trade Agreements with 11 countries: Australia, Bahrain, Jordan, Chile, Colombia, Morocco, Oman, Panama, Peru, Singapore, and South Korea. He also worked to increase U.S. exports by knocking down trade barriers and led business leaders on trade missions abroad to Germany, Spain, Belgium, Russia, Japan, New Zealand, Brazil, Colombia, and China. During his tenure on the Senate Committee on Finance, Ambassador Baucus was deeply involved in orchestrating congressional approval of permanent normal trade relations with China in 2000 and in facilitating China’s entrance into the World Trade Organization in 2001.

Ambassador Baucus earned a bachelor’s degree and law degree from Stanford University. He is married and has one son and two stepchildren.

Alan Beebe was appointed President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China on Mar. 14, 2016.

Alan was an Executive Director based in Beijing, leading EY China’s Cleantech and Supply Chain and Operations (SC&O) practices. His clients include major global corporations, primarily diversified industrials and high-technology companies operating in China.

Prior to joining EY, Alan held Executive positions with the China Greentech Initiative (CGTI), IBM, and management consulting firms AT Kearney and PRTM. He has twenty years of management consulting experience in the US, China and other Asian countries helping clients develop and implement sound business, operations and technology strategies. At EY China, he helps global clients transform their business models to drive new revenue opportunities and preserve profitability in China’s changing economic climate.

From 2010 to 2013, Alan was a Managing Director with CGTI, a collaboration platform serving over 50 international energy and environmental companies. At CGTI, he led advisory services and strategic research across all major areas of energy and cleantech. In 2014, CGTI merged with the Paulson Institute, founded by Hank Paulson.

Alan holds a Master’s degree from Yale University in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the United States. He is a Board of Advisor of the Yale Club of Beijing and in that capacity promotes academic and cultural exchanges between the United States and China. Alan has lived in China since 2002 and speaks Chinese fluently.

Ernest Bower is senior adviser and Sumitro Chair for Southeast Asia Studies and codirector of the Pacific Partners Initiative at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is recognized as a leading expert on Southeast Asia. He is president & CEO of BowerGroupAsia, a well-known business advisory firm he created and built. Before forming his company, he served for a decade as president of the US-ASEAN Business Council, the top private business group composed of America's leading companies in Southeast Asia. Over 20 years, he helped to establish and build the Council from the ground level, working with government and private-sector leaders from the United States and Southeast Asia.

Bower is widely recognized as one of the strongest proponents for close ties between the United States and Asia. He has been an adviser and innovator in creating programs and vehicles to broaden and deepen ties bilaterally and regionally. He engineered key private-sector initiatives such as the U.S.-Singapore Free Trade Agreement Coalition, the U.S.-APEC Business Coalition, and numerous campaigns resulting in significant expansion of commerce. In recognition of his work, the King of Malaysia has awarded him the Darjah Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN), pronouncing him holder of the title Datuk in Malaysia. The president of the Philippines also awarded him the rank of Lakan, or Commander, for his service to the Philippines. Bower is currently the U.S. chair of the Advisory Council on Competitiveness for the Vietnamese prime minister and serves on the boards of the Special Olympics, the Institute for Religion & Public Policy, the American Australian Education and Leadership Foundation, the United States-New Zealand Business Council, the Malaysian-American Society, and the United States-Indonesia Society. He also served on the U.S. Department of State's Advisory Committee on Trade and Investment. Bower holds a bachelor's degree from Colgate University and studied Mandarin Chinese at Middlebury College's Sunderland School of Foreign Language.

Pramit Pal Chaudhuri is the Foreign Editor of the Hindustan Times, based in New Delhi, and has been with the paper since 2000. He wrote about international politics and economic issues for the Telegraph and the Statesman newspapers in Calcutta from 1985 to 2000. He is also a senior associate of the consultancy Rhodium Group, New York, an advisor to BowerGroupAsia, and a member of the Council of Emerging Markets, Washington DC. He also serves as an advisor to Mitsubishi Corporation India.

He has served a double term on the National Security Advisory Board to the Prime Minister of India from 2011 to 2015 . While on the board he as on the national task forces for maritime security, neighbourhood policy, resource security, strategic communication, Chinese policy among others.

He has a number of affiliations including the Mont Pelerin Society, Aspen Institute Italia, Asia Society’s Global Council, New York, and the Institute for International and Strategic Studies, London.

As a member of the Aspen Strategy Group of India, he is a delegate for a number of track two strategic dialogues including those with the United States, China, Israel, Turkey and the US-India-Japan trilateral.

In the past he has been a media fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, fellow at the Henry Stimson Centre, Washington DC; a Hubert Humphrey Fellow at the University of Maryland-College Park; a South Asian fellow at Cornell University and a Schwarz Fellow with the Asia Society New York. He remains a non-resident Associate Fellow with the last organization.

Among many academic and policy publications that he has written, he was part of an Aspen Institute India–Council for Foreign Relations team that wrote a report “The United States and India: A Shared Strategic Future” in 2011.

Gary joined General Mills in 1998 as a Managing Director for China business. He was appointed as General Mills global vice president in 2002, and was named senior global vice president and president of Greater China in 2006.

APCAC was established in 1968 and is the association of 30 American Chambers of Commerce in the Asia Pacific region. APCAC’s collective membership represents over 15,000 companies, 50,000 overseas American workers, and annual trade and investment of over US$500 billion. Mr. Cox is also the Founder of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia - the official affiliate office of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia.

Prior to founding Woodmont International, Mr. Cox worked in the international political sector where he managed projects in Mongolia and Cambodia for the International Republican Institute. Mr. Cox is from Johnson City, Tennessee and a graduate of Belmont University in Nashville. He served as the East Tennessee campaign chairman for Bill Frist’s successful campaign for United States Senate in 1994 and as the Political Director of Frist’s re-election in 2000. Ms. Siobhan Das is the Executive Director of the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM). Assuming the position in Janaury 2016 she is reposnsible for overall chamber operations as well as developing and delivering on the Chamber’s strategies to represent U.S. businesses and their interests in Malaysia.

Siobhan returned to her home country, Malaysia, after almost 12 years in China, where for five years, she worked at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. As their Director of (Industry) Committees she was responsibile for re-shaping the Chambers knowledge capabilities and for estabilishing a new Commitees department to provide the Chamber with the resources it needed to become a center for business intelligence. Siobhan also identified and developed strategic partnerships for the Chamber and lead policy and business initialtives to further the strategies of Asia Pacific’s largest American Chamber.

Prior to moving to China, Siobhan was the Managing Director of Alliance Technical Serivces (ATS), her own film production and corporate communications company in Kuala Lumpur. Her clients included Discovery Channel Asia, Inflight Productions Asia and Renong Berhad. Before starting ATS, Siobhan worked at Dentsu, Young & Rubicam in Thailand, and prior to that in Singapore, at the ad-agency BBDO and at an intergrated production facility, Yarra Films Pte. Ltd. Siobhan started her film career in Los Angeles with the Walt Disney Company.

Diane Farrell

As Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia, Diane Farrell is the principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Global Markets on all matters concerning international economics, trade, investment, and commercial policy programs and agreements with respect to Asia. She also oversees planning and execution of Commerce commercial diplomacy and export promotion strategies at United States Missions in Region Asia.

Most recently, Ms. Farrell worked at the U.S. India Business Council (USIBC). As Executive Vice President, she oversaw business advocacy policy and government relations..

Prior to joining USIBC, Ms. Farrell served on the Board of Directors at the Export Import Bank of the United States (U.S. Exim Bank). A Presidential appointee, confirmed by the U.S. Senate, she was responsible for voting on the transactions in excess of $10 million as well as on significant policy matters.

Her portfolio responsibilities included small business, India, Southeast Asia, and portions of Latin America. In addition, she was named a member of the White House Business Council. During her tenure at U.S. Exim Bank, India transactions expanded and diversified as aircraft sales and conventional and green energy projects, among others, led to India becoming the second largest country by U.S. dollar allocation in the bank’s overall portfolio.

Before serving at U.S. Exim Bank, Ms. Farrell was elected as the First Selectwoman in Westport, Connecticut. A strong mayor form of government, she managed multimillion dollar budgets within the Consumer Price Index and maintained the town’s Aaa bond rating at a time when significant infrastructure investment was taking place. She oversaw the construction of schools, a municipal waste water treatment plant, affordable housing, and other necessary facilities.

Ms. Farrell also served as Chairwoman of the Southwestern Connecticut Regional Planning Agency Metropolitan Planning Organization that was responsible for federally funded
transportation infrastructure in a vital commercial corridor. As a select member of the National League of Cities Transportation and Infrastructure Steering and Policy Committee, she helped set policy goals for transportation and infrastructure initiatives in support of cities and towns across the United States.

Evan Feigenbaum

Evan A. Feigenbaum is Vice Chairman of The Paulson Institute. He leads the institute’s think tank and its investment-related programs. He is also Nonresident Senior Associate in the Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Initially an academic, with a PhD in Chinese politics from Stanford University, his work has since spanned government service, think tanks, the private sector, and three regions of Asia – East, Central, and South.

From 2001 to 2009, he served at the US State Department as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asia, Member of the Policy Planning Staff with principal responsibility for East Asia and the Pacific, and as an adviser on China to Deputy Secretary of State Robert B. Zoellick, with whom he worked closely in the development of the US-China senior dialogue.

During the intensive final phase of the US-India civil nuclear initiative, from July to October 2008, he co-chaired the coordinating team charged with moving the initiative through the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors and the Nuclear Suppliers Group, and then to Congress, where it became the US-India Nuclear Cooperation Approval and Nonproliferation Enhancement Act. He negotiated agreements with the governments of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, including Kazakhstan’s so-called “Madrid Commitments” to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and also has extensive policy experience with North and South Korea and Japan. He received three individual and two group superior honor awards from the State Department.

Outside of government, Dr. Feigenbaum has been Head of the Asia practice group at Eurasia Group, a global political risk consulting firm working principally for financial institutions and corporate clients; Senior Fellow for Asia at the Council on Foreign Relations; and taught at Harvard University and the US Naval Postgraduate School. He is the author of three books and monographs, including most recently The United States in the New Asia, and China’s Techno-Warriors, which was selected by Foreign Affairs as a best book of 2003 on the Asia-Pacific, as well as numerous essays.

Judith Fergin

Judith joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore as its Executive Director in December 2013. She is responsible for managing the executive office and, together with the Board, committee members, and other Chamber members, for developing and implementing AmCham’s programs and strategies.

A career Foreign Service officer, Judith served most recently as the U.S. Ambassador to Timor-Leste. Before that, she held the positions of U.S. Consul General in Sydney, Australia, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore, and Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassies in Jakarta, Indonesia and Canberra, Australia. Judith also served in Moscow, Russia; Pretoria, South Africa; Monrovia, Liberia; Munich, Germany; and Washington, D.C.

Judith received her undergraduate degree from Smith College, a masters of arts in international relations from the University of Virginia, and a masters of science in national resource management from the National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

Ruby Fu

Ruby Fu is the Chief Executive Officer of Burson-Marsteller China. She has more than 30 years of experience in Greater China and has been instrumental in developing new market entries for public relations agencies and global clients, as well as counseling multi-national companies in their strategic communications. Having held a number of leadership roles in the region, she manages cross-border issues covering multiple sectors, directing business development and strategic planning that balances the intricacies between local implementation and global applications.

Ruby re-joins Burson-Marsteller in January 2015 where she previously served as Managing Director of Burson-Marsteller Taiwan in 1994. Most recently, Ruby spent 7 years with Standard Chartered Bank in Taiwan and Hong Kong. As Head of Corporate Affairs Hong Kong and Greater China, she oversaw the Bank’s communication strategies, crisis and reputation management, and corporate social responsibility programs in Greater China.

Throughout her career, Ruby was also deeply engaged with public and regulatory affairs. While with Philip Morris International, she managed relationships with regulators and stakeholders to advance the company’s advocacy initiatives and external outreach. Ruby also worked at Cloud Gate Dance Theatre in Taiwan to later re-join in 2000 as Executive Director of Cloud Gate Dance Foundation, where she successfully digitized this world-renowned performing arts group by introducing its Internet marketing platform.

Ruby started her career with Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as a founding member in Taiwan in 1986. During her 13 years with Ogilvy, she held positions including General Manager Taiwan, and Managing Director in Hong Kong and China, and helped develop their Shanghai operation. She advised clients from Consumer Marketing, Health and Medical, to Technology industries.

On May 6, 2015, President Barack Obama nominated Jennifer Zimdahl Galt to be Ambassador of the United States of America to Mongolia. She was confirmed by the Senate on August 5, 2015, and was sworn in on September 15, 2015.

Ambassador Galt , a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, formerly served as Principal Officer of the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, China, where she had the privilege of leading and mentoring a talented team of nearly 500, comprising 133 American officers, of whom 62 were first- and second-tour, and over 300 locally-engaged Chinese colleagues. Ambassador Galt’s previous postings overseas have included Belgrade, Taipei with the American Institute in Taiwan, Mumbai, Beijing, Shanghai, and the U.S. Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels. In Washington, Ambassador Galt served as Senior Advisor in the State Department’s Bureau of Public Affairs and as Deputy Director for Public Diplomacy in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs.

Ambassador Galt holds Master’s degrees from National Defense University and from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in political science, history and languages from Colorado College in her home state of Colorado. She is fluent in Mandarin and French, and also speaks Italian, Spanish and Serbian. Ambassador Galt is married to the writer Fritz Galt and has a daughter and a son.

Bob Grove is chief executive officer, North Asia at Edelman. Edelman is one of the largest PR and marketing agencies in North Asia, with seven offices across mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.

Previously, Bob led Edelman’s Southeast Asia operations for eight years, where he leveraged cross-market capability and spearheaded the development of digital communications. Edelman Southeast Asia grew by ten times under his leadership.

In his various leadership roles, Bob has provided communications counsel for various clients including corporate social responsibility, digital engagement, issues management and change communications, as well as brand and go-to-market strategy. Having worked in both consultancy and in-house roles, Bob is a strong believer in execution being linked to achievable business results through the proactive engagement of stakeholders.

Prior to joining Edelman, Bob worked for a global business-to-business technology provider as the director of marketing in Asia Pacific. He was appointed managing director of its North Asia operations after a year and despite the bursting of the tech-bubble, he grew the North Asia business by 70 percent during that time.

Paul Haenle

Paul Haenle has served as the founding director of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace's Beijing office, known as the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center (CTC), since 2010. He is an adjunct professor at Tsinghua University teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses on foreign policy to Chinese and international students. Paul also serves as a senior advisor at Teneo Strategy, a global business-consulting firm that provides strategy and counsel to CEOs of Fortune 500 companies as well as Chinese firms involved in international investment.

Paul has over 20 years of U.S. government experience. Most recently, he served for five years at the White House under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama as the principal assistant to the President's National Security Advisor and later as the China Director. From 2007 to 2008, Paul also played a key role as the White House Representative to the Six-Party Talks, the multilateral framework for nuclear negotiations with North Korea. He was selected by the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations to be an inaugural member of the U.S.-China Young Leaders forum, a program designed to enhance relations between Americans and Chinese leaders in a diverse variety of professional fields.

Trained as a China Foreign Area Officer in the U.S. Army, Paul was assigned twice to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China, and also worked in the Pentagon as a China political-military advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Early assignments in the U.S. Army included postings in Germany, Desert Storm 1991, Korea and Kuwait. Paul retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel. Paul received a bachelor's degree of science in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University in 1988 and a master's degree in Asian Studies from Harvard University in 2001.

Ziad Haider serves as the Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. He leads the Office of Commercial and Business Affairs in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs in assisting and promoting U.S. business interests overseas; ensuring that private sector concerns are fully integrated into U.S. foreign and economic policy; and promoting global entrepreneurship and the protection of intellectual property rights.

Well-known for his long history in the Energy business and advanced IT circles he has over 35 years of experience with distributed power generation, energy efficient data center design and Cloud Computing. He has been a member of several Internet standards committees, a keynote speaker at numerous industry conferences and has testified before the US Senate and House, numerous times, concerning the implementation of PURPA, the legislation that deregulated much of the US power industry. He led the American Gas Association committee on distributed power generation for 4 years and led committees on computer automation and environmental matters for both the AGA and SGA. He has also been invited to consult with the Obama and Bush Whitehouse on matters of US Energy policy, cyber vulnerability of US infrastructure, international money laundering, and communications reliability during disasters having been one of the first companies attempting to restore communications after hurricane Katrina.

Mr Haury was a successful executive in the US energy sector with a distinguished career being the Vice President of Operations and Chief Engineer of a major publically listed US energy company. In this position he had responsibility for oil and gas exploration, alternative energy, CCHP/DECHP, gas purification, LNG, CNG, environmental regulation and gas distribution operations. He then became an entrepreneur where he has started companies to pursue energy and high technology opportunities.

Mr Haury is also a published academic author and the holder of a number of patents relating to computer security, Cloud Computing and distributed transaction automation. He is also a registered foreign expert in China. Zhenjie Hu is a native of Changde, Hunan Province and a member of the CPC. He holds a Doctor of Law from Switzerland. He began his career in August 1981 as a primary school and then a middle school teacher. He entered Wuhan University to pursue a Master of Law in 1991. Geoffrey Jackson

Mr. Jackson currently serves as the Executive Director of the US-China Aviation Cooperation Program or ACP (Dec. 2014 to present). Prior to that, he held several positions in the US Trade and Development Agency (1990 to April 2014), US Department of Commerce (1978-1990) and US Coast Guard.

While at USTDA, Geoff served in many positions, including Director of Policy and Program; and Regional Director for East Asia. Geoff also served as the Regional Director for Asia, Regional Director for Eastern and Central Europe, and Regional Director for Africa. While at Commerce, he worked in the International Trade Administration working on issues related to international trade policy, commercial trade dispute settlements, and multilateral development bank matters. He also held various country manager assignments.

Geoff was promoted to Senior Executive Service in 2002, and received several outstanding performance awards during his government service.

Hongbo Ji

Ji Hongbo is the country representative for The Asia Foundation's China office. In this capacity, she leads and supervises the foundation's operations and programs in China in the areas of law and governance, environment, disaster preparedness and management, women's empowerment, charity sector development, regional cooperation and U.S.-China relations.

She was formerly responsible for managing the Foundation's Open Government Information and administrative procedure legislative reform programs in China. She also managed the Foundation's ongoing international relations initiatives — including exchange programs such as the Young Diplomats Program with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Hongbo joined the Foundation in 2007 and initially worked on the Foundation's conflict mediation program in Xinjiang. Prior to joining the Foundation, she served for three years as assistant manager of the Sustainable Agriculture Development Project under the China-Canada Agriculture Development Program, a Cdn $20 million project funded by CIDA. This program promoted environmental sustainability through support for Chinese efforts to manage environmental issues linked to rural poverty in western regions of China.

Hongbo worked as a consultant for the World Bank in both Washington, DC and Western China on poverty reduction and rural development projects. She also has five years of diplomatic experience, including work at the Permanent Mission of China to the U.N. in New York, and two years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an interpreter at the prestigious Translation and Interpretation Department.

Hongbo holds a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University, and a master's degree in International Relations, with a specialization in development studies from Yale University as a Henry H.L. A regulatory and trade policy specialist, Philippa set up China Policy following a career in research and the public sector. First studying in Beijing in 1975, she has now worked in China-related research and policy development for over thirty years.

From 2004-9 Philippa was senior advisor at the EU-China Trade Project (EUCTP), the EU’s largest trade-related technical assistance program worldwide. At the EUCTP Philippa led the agriculture, quarantine, quality and standards programs. Responsible for standards issues across all sectors, Philippa’s own focus was on risk and safety.

Prior to joining the EUCTP Philippa was a member of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. From 1999-2003 she served as trade policy specialist at Beijing’s Australian Embassy, a time of regulatory watershed in China. Following accession to the WTO in 2001, China embarked upon a major program of economic and legal reform that continues today.

Scott Kennedy is Deputy Director of the Freeman Chair in China Studies and Director of the Project on Chinese Business and Political Economy at CSIS. A leading authority on China’s economic policy and its global economic relations, specific areas of focus include industrial policy, business lobbying, multinational business challenges in China, global governance, and philanthropy. Kennedy has been traveling to China for over a quarter century, and he has conducted thousands of interviews across the country with officials, businesses, lawyers, non-profit organizations, and scholars. He is the author of The Business of Lobbying in China (Harvard University Press, 2005) and the editor of three books, including Beyond the Middle Kingdom: Comparative Perspectives on China’s Capitalist Transformation (Stanford University Press, 2011), and The Dragon's Learning Curve: Global Governance and China (Routledge, forthcoming). Niels Marquardt has been CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham) since 2013. He is a former American diplomat specialized in economics, with decades of experience promoting international trade and investment.

Niels’ final diplomatic assignment was as U.S. Consul General in Sydney, 2010-2013. During a 33-year State Department career. Niels also served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Madagascar and the Union of the Comoros (2007 - 2010), to the Republic of Cameroon (2004 – 2007), and to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea (2004 – 2006). In three of those countries, Niels helped found and launch new AmCham chapters. He also served earlier in his career as an economic officer in France, Germany, Thailand, and the Congo.

He leads a talented team focused on building the brand, growing sales, and delivering the unique Harley-Davidson customer experience in this region.

Prior to his current position, Marc was Senior Director of Sales Operations responsible for planning, distribution and delivery of motorcycles, accessories and general merchandise to the company’s worldwide network of dealers. In addition, Marc oversaw the implementation of an enterprise resource planning solution across the sales organization.

Marc started his Harley-Davidson career in Product Development in 1995 as a design engineer in the company’s powertrain development division. He spent six years in engineering before joining the materials group as the European Supplier Liaison, based in Oxford, UK. In 2004 he joined Harley-Davidson’s sales organization where he held various roles including Managing Director of European Direct Markets, responsible for Harley-Davidson operations in fourteen non-subsidiary countries within the EMEA region.

Susan Munro is a partner with Steptoe & Johnson LLP and head of the firm’s Beijing office. She has advised financial institutions, multinational companies and investment funds on China-related business and investment matters for more than 18 years. Steven R. Okun joined global investment KKR in 2011 as its first Director of Asia Pacific Public Affairs. Mr. Okun’s responsibilities encompass government affairs, communications, stakeholder engagement and environmental and social responsibility issues for KKR.

In particular, his responsibilities include working on Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) initiative with KKR’s investment teams, KKR Capstone and directly with KKR’s portfolio partners, including on their public affairs and strategic sustainability projects. Mr. Okun also leads KKR Asia’s efforts in “impact investing”, whereby KKR Asia Pacific supports the growth of social enterprises.

Mr. Okun served in the Administration of President Bill Clinton as Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Transportation, being at the Department from 1994 to 1999. For his public service, he was awarded the Secretary's Award for Special Service Commendation.

Mr. Okun arrived in Singapore in 2003 to lead UPS’ public affairs matters on aviation, competition and trade until 2010.

Tami Overby, senior vice president for Asia at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, leads Washington’s premier international policy team that is devoted to helping American companies compete and prosper in Asia’s dynamic marketplace.

Overby is responsible for developing, promoting, and executing programs and policies relating to U.S. trade and investment in Asia. She works closely with Chamber member companies, business coalitions, AmChams, government leaders, and business executives to achieve their business objectives in this very important part of the world. Overby and her team led the efforts for the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement ratification. She works with a talented senior-level group of professionals including Jeremie Waterman, executive director for China and senior policy adviser for Asia; Jim Fatheree, senior director for Japan and Korea; Esperanza Jelalian, director for South Asia; and John Goyer, senior director for Southeast Asia.

Before joining the Chamber as vice president for Asia in 2009, Overby lived and worked in South Korea for 21 years. There she worked with AIG and William M. Mercer Ltd. and spent the last 14 years leading AmCham Korea, aiming to improve the business environment for member companies in Korea. During this time, she was actively engaged in ensuring that Korea entered America’s Visa Waiver Program. Overby raised the profile of AmCham Korea to make it the largest, most influential foreign business group in Korea.

In recognition of her efforts for promoting mutually cooperative economic relations between South Korea and the United States, Overby was awarded the Korean Order of Industrial Service Merit, Silver Tower by President Lee Myung-Bak in June 2009. She was previously recognized with a Letter of Citation (Bronze Tower) from both President Roh Moo-Hyun and President Kim Dae-Jung. In April 2007, Overby was awarded an Honorary Citizenship of Seoul from Mayor Oh Se-Hoon.

In Korea, Overby was active in charitable programs like the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, the Seoul Children’s Welfare Committee, and AmCham’s Partnership for the Future Foundation, which raised more than $8 million and helped more than 1,400 Korean university students obtain full scholarships.

Randy spent 28 years with the Central Intelligence Agency's National Clandestine Service, most recently serving as the Chief CIA representative in China. He has an extensive background in foreign field operations, policy and program management, and leadership development. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Bahasa Indonesian.

Ms. Rivas previously worked as a consultant at King & Spalding’s international trade practice in Washington DC. Before joining King & Spalding, Ms. Rivas served as an International Trade Advisor to the House of Representatives Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade and advised committee members on policies related to trade and manufacturing. As Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce – People's Republic of China (AmCham) and Chair of its Policy Committee and Insurance Forum, Les Ross is a longstanding leader of the American business and legal communities in China and in frequent contact with government officials and other stakeholders.

Mr. Ross concentrates his practice on mergers and acquisitions and regulatory matters and has experience in a broad range of industries. He has represented both foreign and local companies and has particular experience advising foreign companies on competition law and regulatory compliance in China.

Mr. Ross represents foreign companies in their strategic expansion in China through direct investments and mergers and acquisitions in industries ranging alphabetically from agriculture to water services. Patrick Santillo

Mr. Santillo is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for China in the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration. He leads a team of more than 160 professionals in the U.S. and overseas that is dedicated to opening foreign markets to American products, protecting U.S. commercial interests abroad, promoting U.S. exports and encouraging foreign direct investment into the United States. He advises the leadership of the Department of Commerce on trade-policy issues regarding the bilateral commercial relationship between the United States and China and he helps shape the Department's trade promotion agenda. As a member of the International Trade Administration's Senior Leadership Team, Mr. Santillo also fosters operational excellence across the organization.

Prior to this role, Mr. Santillo served as the Regional Senior Commercial Officer-ASEAN at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore. He was the Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific for the U.S. Department of Commerce from 2008-2011. As Regional Director, Mr. Santillo supported Commercial Service operations in 13 countries in the region, including China. Alfred Schipke is the IMF Senior Resident Representative for China. Mr. John Schuldt joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM Korea) as its President on January 7th, 2016. In this position, he is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation and activities of the Chamber.

Mr. Schuldt is engaged in civic activities in Seoul. He is the Advisory Council Member for United Service Organizations (USO). Also, he is the Director ex officio of Korean – American Association (KAA).

Mr. Schuldt was the Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Ford Sales and Service Korea Company (FSSK). In this role, Schuldt led the Korean team in all marketing activities and worked closely with dealers to integrate marketing messages that delivered on the business plan targets. Additionally he worked closely with other FSSK Sales and Customer Service teams to provide support to Ford dealers across the peninsula.

Mr. Schuldt joined Ford in 1985 as a Sales and Marketing trainee. He has worked in 8 US offices and also worked in various sales and marketing functions in 10 countries, all in the Asia Pacific area. He was a District Sales Manager based in the Tokyo Japan Ford Export Operations office and called on Ford Dealers across the South Pacific. He also worked in the Tokyo Japan office of Mazda Motor Corporation as General Manager for Regional Sales Office 1. In this capacity he led the team and dealer network from Tokyo north through Hokkaido. Over his 30 year career with Ford Mr. Schuldt has progressed through a series of positions, including sales zone manager, Southeast Region Lincoln Marketing Manager and US Production Planning and Sales Manager for Lincoln Mercury. He later served as the Director of Internet Tools in the Global Marketing Department at Ford Headquarters in Dearborn.

Mr. Schuldt served as the Regional Sales Manager in the Pittsburgh Office of Ford Motor Company. In this capacity he led a team that worked with 200 Ford and Lincoln dealers across 5 states and delivered record sales and market share results during the very difficult economic climate from 2008 – 2012.

Mr. Schuldt was born in Chicago Illinois and grew up in a rural area in the northwest corner of the state of Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from Bowling Green State University in 1982 and a Master’s Degree in International Management from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management in 1985. He joined Ford one month after graduation in 1985.

Dr. Harley Seyedin is the most recent recipient of the "Peace through Commerce Medal" originally initiated by Thomas Jefferson in 1790 when he was the first Secretary of State of the United States. Harley is among less than 20 individuals to receive this Medal in the 225 years since its inception. This Medal is the highest honor awarded to an individual by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Harley Seyedin is the President of Allelon Energy Partners. Allelon Energy Partners is involved in the development, construction and operation of new energy and power projects internationally. Partners of Allelon Energy have more than 150 years of combined experience in international development, construction and operation of energy and power projects with billions of US dollars in projects completed in their various positions during their long careers. Mr. Hamid L. Sharif is ADB’s Country Director for the People’s Republic of China (PRC). He assumed office in July 2012.

As Country Director, Mr. Sharif leads the planning and implementation of the work of ADB’s PRC Resident Mission (PRCM); manages the ADB portfolio of more than US$10 billion in the country; maintains and strengthens strategic partnerships with clients, including central and local governments; assists in loan and technical assistance processing; formulates the country partnership strategy; manages external relations; and develops and delivers knowledge products.

Mr. Sharif was the Principal Director of the Central Operations Services Office at the ADB Headquarters in Manila from 2008 to 2012. He also served as the Assistant General Counsel (AGC) from 2002 - 2005 and from 2007 - 2008. As AGC, his work included directing ADB’s work on Law and Policy Reform, including in the PRC.

Mr. Sharif joined ADB in 1993 as Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel. After serving as Senior Counsel (1995 - 1998) and Principal Counsel (1998 - 2002), he was appointed as AGC in 2002. From 2005-2007, Mr. Sharif, was on Special Leave from ADB and was the Representative for The Asia Foundation in Pakistan.

A Pakistan and United Kingdom national, Mr. Sharif is a UK qualified Barrister from Lincoln’s Inn. He earned his Master of Law degree from Cambridge University. He holds his Bachelors of Law degree from Kingston University.

Timothy Stratford is managing partner in Covington & Burling LLP’s Beijing office and a member of the International Trade, Corporate and Government Affairs Practice Groups. Mr. Stratford’s practice is focused on advising international clients doing business in China and assisting Chinese companies seeking to expand their businesses globally. As a former Assistant U.S. Trade Representative, Mr. Stratford is the most senior former U.S. trade official working as a member of the U.S. business community in China. Except for the five years he spent in Washington, D.C. in government service (2005-2010), Mr. Stratford has lived and worked continuously in the greater China region since 1982.

Jeremie O. Waterman is Senior Director, Greater China, at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., where he is responsible for developing and executing U.S. Chamber programs and policy relating to U.S. trade and investment in the Greater China region.

In carrying out the U.S. Chamber's Greater China trade and investment agendas, Mr. Waterman works extensively with member companies, state and local chambers of commerce, business coalitions, American Chambers of Commerce abroad, and the U.S. and foreign governments. His responsibilities include issues relating to U.S. business interests in the region. He oversees and directs the Chamber's China trade and investment policy initiatives, including the Chamber's intellectual property rights (IPR) and outreach in China. Mr. Waterman also directs the Chamber's China policy advocacy and trade promotion efforts in Washington, DC and at the grassroots level in cities around the United States.

Prior to joining the U.S. Chamber, Mr. Waterman worked for over five years at The US-China Business Council, most recently as the Council's Director for Government Affairs. While at the Council, Mr. Waterman was responsible for providing information and analysis on policy developments that affected U.S. member companies' operations in China and led Council policy outreach efforts toward the U.S. Executive and Congressional branches of government on issues ranging from WTO compliance to export controls to U.S. visa policy.

Ms. Andrea Wu, was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. After completing her college education at Fu-Jen Catholic University, she attended California State University Los Angeles for post graduate study emphasizing in Finance and Business Administration. Prior to working for American Chamber, she has been the General Manager for United Airlines in Taiwan since year 2000. During the term, Ms. Wu was an active task team member in Board of Airline Representatives and Steering Committee of Star Alliance in Taiwan. Prior to her employment with United Airlines, Ms. Wu has worked for a California real estate development company as an Operation Manager/Treasurer in Santa Monica, CA for eight years.

In 2002 & 2003, Andrea served as the Vice Chair of American Chamber in Taipei while she also acted as the Co-Chair of Transportation Committee since year 2000. She was elected in 2004 as the first female Chairperson of the Chamber. In addition to his role with Textron Aviation, Kevin currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA), the Co-Chairman to the Aerospace Forum under AmCham China.

In June 2007, Kevin joined Textron as vice president of business development and government affairs to promote the company’s development strategy in the Greater China and Mongolian ¬¬regions.

Prior to joining Textron, Kevin worked at Lockheed Martin Global Limited (Lockheed Martin Global Inc.), as a director of business development in Greater China since April 2002.

Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, he had worked for Chinese Civil Aviation Administration for 16 years. He is a former air traffic controller, advanced faculty and director of the international exchange and cooperation department of China Civil Aviation University.

Kevin was born and raised in Tianjin. He holds an MBA from the Australian Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University and a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He earned his bachelor degree in Air Traffic Management from China Civil Aviation University.

Dr. Lan XUE is a Cheung Kong Chair Professor and Dean of School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University. With a Ph. D in public policy from Carnegie Mellon University, he taught at the George Washington University before returning back to China in 1996. His teaching and research interests include innovation policy, crisis management，and global governance. He has published widely in these areas, including, Risk Governance on Climate Change, which was published in 2014 by Science Press in China.

He also serves as an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University and a Non-Resident Senior Fellow of Brookings Institution. His many public service appointments include a member of the Expert Committee on Emergency Management of the State Council of China, Vice President of China Association of Public Administration, a member of the Visiting Committee for Harvard Kennedy School, and a member of the advisory board of OECD on Science, Technology, and Industry. Yang Yao

Yang Yao is a professor at the China Center for Economic Research (CCER) and the National School of Development (NSD), Peking University. He currently serves as the director of CCER and the dean of NSD. He is a member of the China Finance 40 Forum. His research interests include economic transition and development in China. He has published more than hundred research papers in international and domestic journals as well as several books on institutional economics and economic development in China. He is also a prolific writer for magazines and newspapers, including the Financial Times and the Project Syndicate.

Dr. Yao was awarded the 2008 and 2014 Sun Yefang Award in Economic Science, the 2008 and 2010 Pu Shan Award in International Economics and the 2008 Zhang Peigang Award in Development Economics, and was named the Best Teacher by the Peking University Student Union in 2006.

Dr. Yao obtained a BS in geography in 1986 and an MS in economics in 1989, both from Peking University, and his PhD in development economics from the department of agricultural and applied economics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1996.

Laura Younger has been the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) since January 2015. The ACCJ is dedicated to further developing commerce between the U.S. and Japan, promoting the business interests of U.S companies and members, and improving the international business environment in Japan. With over 3000 members, the ACCJ is one of the most influential business organizations in Japan and a primary hub for advocacy, thought leadership and business networking.

Prior to her appointment as Executive Director, Ms. Younger held successively senior roles at the Chamber since joining over 10 years ago, serving as the Deputy Executive Director for five years and, prior to that, was the Membership Services Associate Director and Programs Development Manager. Mr. Yuan Haiying founded Yuan Associates in February 2004, and since then he and the firm have become major players in China’s growing government affairs industry.

Mr. Yuan has thirty years experience in the Chinese Government, including senior diplomatic postings in Washington D.C., as China’s Agriculture Attaché, and in Rome, as the Alternate Representative to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO). He has been involved in negotiations on numerous bilateral and multilateral agreements in the areas of trade, investment, agriculture, forestry, fishery and environmental protection. For his efforts, Mr. Yuan received an Outstanding Contribution Certificate from the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and Outstanding Contribution Awards from the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. In China, Mr. Yuan was the Director of the Ministry of Forestry’s Department of International Cooperation, where he coordinated the Ministry’s relations and joint projects with foreign governments and international organizations.

After retiring from public service, Mr. Yuan worked as Senior Vice President at Edelman Public Relations for three years and as Vice President at APCO Worldwide for three years. Mr. Yuan chaired the Government Affairs Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce and the China Quality Brands Protection Committee (QBPC) of the Chinese Government Cooperation Committee. Additionally, he was a Council Member of the China International Public Relations Association (CIPRA) and the Beijing Foreign Investment Association.

Mr. Yuan graduated from Peking University with a degree in English and International Politics. He speaks Mandarin and fluent English.

Until recently William was Minister for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, overseeing the U.S. Department of Commerce’s trade promotion and trade policy activities in its operations in Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Shenyang. William is one of only two serving Foreign Commercial Service officers worldwide to have attained the rank of Career Minister, which earned him the lifetime “Honorable” honorific.

Prior to his posting to Beijing, William was Deputy Assistant Secretary, International Operations, for the U.S. Commercial Service, overseeing Commercial Sections in U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide. Jun is the Executive Director of the US-China Healthcare Cooperation Program (HCP) at AmCham China since September 1, 2011. The program is a bilateral public-private partnership initiative that focuses on healthcare capacity building and exploring future business opportunities for the US healthcare industry in China.

Before joining AmCham, Jun worked with Novartis and led the China Rural Initiative, developing national business model for non-urban China market, and leading the company’s healthcare education programs in rural China. He has successfully established a model for growth that combines all different types of products from Novartis Group, supported by the educational programs, and leveraging company’s strong local commercial capacity.

Jun has over 15 years experience in healthcare industry. He was a physician by training, and worked as a Urologist in Beijing Friendship Hospital. Prior to Novartis, Jun worked as senior consultant and engagement manager with IMS Health in APAC region for 5 years, developed and managed over fifty projects, focusing on Growth Strategy, Industry Positioning, M&A, and Market Access. Jun also worked with SAI Healthcare, a strategic consulting firm in the US, as the country manager for CHina; and with Zuellig Pharma China as regional commercial manager.

Jun has strong leadership experience and extensive exposure to different markets. During his career with consulting firms, Jun has led different multinational teams to provide consulting services in the US, China, ASEAN countries and Taiwan. He has helped to develop the strategic consulting business for IMS in China and Southeast Asia from scratch, and devised and implement new multi-business-line model for Novartis that covers innovative drugs, generic, OTC, and vaccine products.

Mr. Zimmerman is the managing partner for the Beijing office of the international law firm of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, and is the author of several publications concerning trade and China related issues, including the well-recognized China Law Deskbook, a publication of the American Bar Association (now in its 4th edition). Mr. Zimmerman has been a registered foreign lawyer with the Ministry of Justice since 1998 and is recognized as one of Asia’s leading business lawyers in the AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers Survey and is listed as a Leading Individual in the category of Corporate/M&A for foreign law firms in China of the AsiaPacific Legal 500: The Guide to Asia's Commercial Law Firms.
