This event features thought-provoking sharing and a dynamic panel discussion, where speakers will engage in a lively conversation on the future of education and workforce skills, sharing their perspectives on how education is adapting to meet the demands of today and beyond. We have an impressive lineup of speakers, including leaders and educators from 3e International School, InGeniusprep, the Western Academy of Beijing, and Udemy. Co-Chairs of the AmCham China Education Committee will also be in attendance.


Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session, followed by a networking opportunity with industry peers and education leaders.

    Hoffen Guo

    Head of Partnerships and Operations at Udemy China

    Hoffen Guo leads the China market for Udemy, the largest global skills-based learning platform. She oversees business operations, partnership management, and overall Udemy branding and marketing. In this role, she creates strategic roadmaps and brings together teams from multiple generations and functions, using her vision and experience to spot potential growth opportunities and roadblocks far in advance.

    As a driven business leader, Hoffen knows how to effectively synthesize go-to-market teams from diverse backgrounds and deliver actionable results. Her ability to identify problems and develop and implement bespoke business solutions has enabled her to consistently ensure continuous improvement and purposefully shape the evolution of culturally aligned workforces.

    Hoffen is a results-focused global business leader with an entrepreneurial mindset. Before entering the SaaS industry, Hoffen was the Government Affairs Director at United Technologies, one of the Fortune 500 companies in the cutting-edge manufacturing industry. She also worked as a senior policy consultant, focusing on closing gaps and advancing communications between China and the U.S. in business and personnel exchanges.

    Prior to her work in the business sector, Hoffen served the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a decade. She holds two master's degrees: a Master of Science from Nanyang Technological University and a Master of International Law from the Foreign Affairs University. Hoffen is currently based in New Jersey, U.S., with her husband and two children.

    Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of InGeniusprep

    Joel attended Dartmouth College, where he was inducted early into Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He graduated with a double major in Government and International Studies, and a minor in Ethical Philosophy. After Dartmouth, Joel attended Yale Law School, where he served on the executive board of the Journal on Regulation, as well as the Law School’s entrepreneurship society. Joel has been featured in Forbes for his expertise on leadership, management, and entrepreneurship. Joel lives with his wife, Emily, who teaches and is receiving her PhD in Medieval History from Yale.

    Director of Innovation in Learning and Teaching at Western Academy of Beijing

    With more than 15 years in IB World Schools, Stephen is dedicated to innovation in international education and to helping support learning that brings our mission to life.

    Before joining WAB in 2018, Stephen served as the Director of Learning at Canadian Academy in Kobe, Japan. An experienced IB MYP Coordinator, Stephen helped lead the Japan-Korea MYP Schools Network and supports the programme through candidate schools.

    A marine biologist and science teacher by training, Stephen has an MA in International Education from the University of Bath, and is an online coach for Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is very interested in educational research, global citizenship and innovative learning.

    Stephen has lived and worked in the UK, Indonesia, Japan and China. He has two children in WAB, and loves the rich opportunities and nurturing environment that our school provides.

    Fran Liu

    Director of China Office of University of Minnesota

    Fran Liu joined the University of Minnesota (U of M) China Office in 2019. Her work focuses on advancing the University brand systemwide by sharing U of M information with prospective students and families, engaging the Chinese alumni communities, and developing educational collaborations between the University and its partners in China.

    As the University representative office in China, Fran and her team have achieved a 15% annual growth in follower base through social media marketing and signature events each year. Fran has been invited by the EducationUSA Beijing Office as a speaker to co-present the annual counselors' training workshops.

    Before joining U of M, Fran worked in marketing, business development, and public affairs from local start-ups to U.S. Fortune 500s. Fran is a dynamic and innovative problem-solver who grew business revenue tremendously in her entrepreneurial experiences. Fran holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and earned her master's degree in business from the University of Washington - Seattle, Foster School of Business.
