Colm Rafferty is the Vice President – Asia Pacific for Vermeer Corporation and is Chairman of Vermeer China Limited. Vermeer is an equipment manufacturer from the Midwest of the United States, with products used for agricultural mechanization, environmental protection, infrastructure development, and non-blast surface mining. The Asia Pacific business includes integrated supply chain operations and dealer networks and company-owned distribution in China, Singapore, Australia, Northeast Asia, and Southeast Asia.
Vermeer advocates for the interests of U.S. businesses around the world. In the U.S., Vermeer is an active participant in President Obama’s Export Council (PEC). Vermeer’s Chair of the Board is the recent former Chairwoman of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the largest industrial trade association and lobbying group in the U.S. In China, this past year, Colm served as Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of AmCham China.
Colm received an MBA from the Yale School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from Brown University. He currently serves on the Yale University Asia Development Council, the Yale School of Management’s Greater China Advisory Board, and recently served on the Executive Committee of the Beijing Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO).
Sean Stein is a senior advisor in Covington’s Public Policy Practice Group. Prior to joining Covington, Sean served as the U.S. Consul General in Shanghai. He has over twenty years of diplomatic experience in Asia and has served in leadership positions in China, Washington, and the region. His insights informed policy making at the highest levels in Washington and he assisted dozens of U.S., Chinese, and international firms to develop strategies, manage risk, and identify opportunities for growth in response to the changing U.S.-China relationship.
Sean, a non-lawyer, is a key resource to businesses on issues related to political risk, public affairs, problem solving, and communications. He regularly assists companies facing acute or long-term issues to resolve them, often through discussions with U.S. and Chinese government officials. He is well placed to provide strategic advice to U.S. and international clients on issues relating to securing market access and protecting investments in China, assessing risk, navigating trade controls, sanctions, and supply chain restrictions, and resolving disputes and regulatory investigations.
Dr. Qinghua Zhang is now Professor at the Department of Applied Economics in Guanghua School of Management, Peking University. She graduated from Wuhan University, where she received her bachelor's degree in economics. She received her Ph.D in economics from Brown University. She was a visiting scholar at the Department of Economics at the University of Texas at Austin from 2002-2004 and then at London School of Economics and Political Science from 2015-2016. She also served as a consultant for the World Bank in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2017.
Dr. Zhang has broad research interests including Urban Economics, Public Finance, Labor Search and Matching, and Applied Econometrics. She is published in many distinguished economic journals including Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Rand Journal of Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, Journal of Econometrics, and Journal of Development Economics. She has presented at many international academic conferences. She has led many research projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the World Bank, and international cooperative research institutions such as IGC (International Growth Center).
Dr. Zhang received the Best Paper Award from the Global Chinese Real Estate Congress in 2016 for her original work on China’s housing market. She was also awarded the First Prize in the National University Research Competition (in Social Science) awarded by the Ministry of Education of China in 2020 for her pioneering work on transportation infrastructure and urban decentralization in China. She is currently a member on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Urban Economics.
Wei specializes in the integration of advanced technology into overall business management and assists Chinese firms in rapid digital transformation and implementation. Wei has also held senior management positions at IBM, Capgemini, and Mercer, collectively, for over a decade, providing expertise for hundreds of large and medium-size enterprises in China in fields of organization and human resource transformation. In addition, Wei also has extensive experience consulting enterprises on corporate strategies, operation design, digital transformation, corporate development strategies, and overall operation management.
Furthermore, Wei is also certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and a columnist for the “Harvard Business Review”, “China Business Network”, and media platforms alike.

Prior to that, he was Practice Leader at Hewitt Associates, advising clients from various industries, such as: industrial, real estate, pharmaceutical, financials, Hi-Tech and etc.
Mr. Shao focuses on helping Chinese companies going global and multinational companies to succeed in China through leadership assessment and development, talent management, succession management, org design, HR transformation, executive coaching, M&A and etc.

Michelle is Head of HR at Pfizer China. Prior joining Pfizer in year 2010, she was working for Shell China Limited and used to take up finance, sales and HR positions with increasing management responsibilities. Annie Wang has been the HRVP, Bayer Pharmaceuticals Division in China since 2012. She is a seasoned HR practitioner in different industries. Over the past 20+ years, Annie had held different HR management positions with multinational companies, such as DHL, Nortel Networks, Edelman, and Schneider Electric. Her study and work experience in China as well as in Canada has enabled her to appreciate different cultural environment and adopt the appropriate approach to tackle the cross-cultural issues.
Lin has over 20 years' experience with Fortune 500 companies both in China and the U.S. across the areas of government affairs, IT, supply chain and marketing. She held the position of senior director of Global Government Affairs at Motorola Solutions China, and was responsible for managing relationship with various government bodies and trade associations for business advocacy. She was also responsible for corporate governance across Asia Pacific.
As an active member of the community, Lin has been serving on the board of American Chamber of Commerce since 2013 and is the first Chinese woman holding the vice chair role. Dr. Dongmei Zhang is a Distinguished Scientist and Assistant Managing Director at Microsoft Research Asia, leading research in the area of Data, Knowledge, and Intelligence with research directions in data intelligence, knowledge computing, information visualization, and software engineering.
Dr. Zhang joined Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) in 2004. Prior to joining MSRA, Dr. Zhang worked at Microsoft headquarters starting in 2001, playing a key role in developing the Microsoft PhotoStory product. In 2009 Dr. Zhang founded the Software Analytics group at MSRA, and led the team to conduct cutting-edge research and technology innovation in an interdisciplinary area that spans across big data, machine learning, systems, and software engineering. In recent years, Dr. Zhang’s groups have expanded their research into business intelligence. Their research and technologies have helped Microsoft Power BI to establish a technical leadership in Smart Data Discovery in the BI and data analytics market.
In recent years, Dr. Zhang has been continuously advocating Diversity and Inclusion internally and externally while conducting research.
