William Rosoff

General Counsel at AmCham China

William L. Rosoff is the managing partner of the Beijing office of Akin Gump Hauer&Feld. He is an adjunct professor at Tsinghua University Law School and the University of International Business and Economics Law School. He also serves as the the General Counsel of the American Chamber of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China.

Prior to coming to China seven years ago, Rosoff was a partner at the US law firms, Davis Polk and Wardwell and O’Melveny and Myers. He also served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of RJR-Nabisco,Inc. and Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Marsh and McLennan Companies.

Rosoff received a J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He also has a Ph.D. in History from the University of California at Berkeley, and a B.A. from Columbia College.

Jörg Wuttke is Vice President and Chief Representative of BASF China, based in Beijing. Since joining BASF in 1997, Mr. Wuttke has been responsible for helping guide the company’s investment strategies for China, negotiation of large projects and government relations.

Previous to joining BASF, Mr. Wuttke worked with ABB for 11 years; in fact his first professional encounter with China was in 1988 as the Finance and Administration Manager of ABB Beijing. In 1990, he returned to Germany as Sales Manager of ABB Power Plants Division, responsible for gas turbine sales to Africa and Russia. In 1993, he became Chief Representative ABB China in Shanghai and in 1994 moved to the President's Office of ABB China in Beijing, where he was responsible for the development and financing of large projects.

From 2001 to 2004 Mr. Wuttke was the Chairman of the German Chamber of Commerce in China. From 2007 to 2010, 2014 to 2017, and since May 2019 again he was the President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China

Kendra began building websites in the mid-1990s, when Geocities was still a thing, and has been skulking around China’s tech scene since 2004.

She has since consulted on over 150 digital projects for both private investors, SMEs and multinationals. Her clients have included Google, Envato, and the Eezy network. She is literate in Mandarin, and specializes in Chinese interfaces and usability.

Kendra now leads Trivium’s Social Credit Watch project, which is tracking the development of China’s social credit system.

Markus is an experienced advisor to European corporate and public sector clients focusing on business-policy nexus topics including policy-based growth strategies, regulatory ratings/CSCS, the Belt and Road Initiative, technology-transfer and -partnerships or government affairs strategies. He combines deep business understanding with policy analysis expertise and six years working experience in China. Prior to Sinolytics, Markus worked as a Government Affairs & Advocacy Director with Bayer MaterialScience (now: Covestro) in China and as Management Consultant with The Boston Consulting Group in its Shanghai, Hong Kong and Zurich offices, focusing on financial services and industrial goods. Markus holds a MLaw from the universities of Bern and Geneva with focus on international public law and WTO law as well as a CAS in Public Policy from ETHZ.

Ronan is the Secretary of the Board and Head of Legal, Risks and Compliance of Groupama-AVIC Property Insurance Co., Ltd., one of the largest foreign-invested property insurance companies in China and the only foreign insurer active in agricultural insurance.

Groupama-AVIC is a joint-venture between Groupama, a French insurance company with more than 100 years of history, and China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) a Chinese State-owned aerospace and defence conglomerate.

Ronan has joined the insurance world in 2018, having previously exercised as a qualified lawyer in France (Paris), Spain (Barcelona) and is a resident of Beijing since 2007. His practice as a lawyer focused on assisting foreign companies to do business in China and Chinese companies to do business overseas, with emphasis on cross-border M&A, establishment of joint-ventures, as well as greenfield investments.

Ronan has also been significantly involved in lobbying actions of the Chamber through his chairmanship of the EUCCC Legal and Competition Working Group since 2010 and as a Vice-Chair of the Insurance Working Group since 2018, and he is also a regular participant in the meetings organized by the Delegation with EU officials, and the European Tour in Brussels.

Ronan graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (2005), the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne
(2003) and the University Complutense of Madrid (2003).

Ronan is professionally conversant in English, Chinese, Spanish and French.
