The AmCham China Women's Professional Committee and VIVA Women's Professional Network is co-hosting a Women in STEM Professions Networking Mixer on Thursday, 24th January.

The number of women building their careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields has been increasing every single year, emphasizing the importance of a more inclusive culture in STEM professions.


This session features an interactive panel discussion with four accomplished women leaders from STEM professions who have excelled in their diverse fields. During the talk, they will share their career stories, thoughts, challenges, and insights from working in male-dominated industries, as well as provide practical tips on effective ways to navigate your future in STEM fields and careers. Following the talk, a casual networking opportunity with refreshments will offer attendees the chance to mingle, discuss, and connect over their shared experiences in the STEM field.


This event will be a high-value professional platform to support and inspire women who are working in male-dominated industries. You will come away with memorable and informative ideas and guidance.

    Global R&D/QA Executive at Food/Beverage and Ingredient Industries

    Lilly is a 29+ years Veteran Research & Development (R&D) Executive in Food & Beverage Industry. She is currently the President of Global Food & Beverage Technology Associates, a consulting firm that she founded in 2018 in Chicago USA to help companies to grow revenue by innovating in breakthrough technologies. During her long and successful globally career in the industry, she has built and led teams in product innovation, research and development, quality and packaging in iconic companies such as Coca-Cola, Unilever, Danone and Campbell Soup.

    Before returning to Asia, Lilly worked for 18 years at The Coca-Cola Company’s headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. She worked in all aspects of technology and innovation for carbonated and non-carbonated beverages.

    Lilly is an American citizen with a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Emory University. She also completed an EMBA in International Marketing at Mercer University.

    Lilly is the inventor of 13 patents. She has authored and co-authored more than 10 publications, and is a regular presenter at international conferences.

    Vice President of Boeing Research & Technology, China

    Elisabeth Martin is currently the Vice President of Boeing Research & Technology-China, overseeing overall BR&T-C functions. Her main responsibilities include: formulating and implementing Boeing’s R&D strategy in China, establishing and supervising research project portfolios with the aim of delivering mutual benefits for Boeing and China through innovation. She is also responsible for Boeing’s university relationship in China, focused on strengthening Boeing’s presence in China.

    Prior to this appointment, she was the Director of Asia-Pacific Safety and Regulatory Affairs for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, and served as Deputy to the 787 Vice President and Chief Project Engineer, overseeing product integrity and reliability for the global 787 fleet. She has held a variety of engineering and management positions in design, build and certification roles and worked for Boeing for 28 years.

    Elisabeth began her career at Rolls-Royce Inc. and Douglas Aircraft, which led to a position at Boeing as an aerodynamicist.

    Elisabeth, who received her Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and Master’s Degree in Whole Systems Design at Antioch University Seattle, also completed an executive program at Stanford University. She moved to Beijing with her family in January 2015.

    i Gu, CEO and Dean of Zhen Academy, an institution founded in 2017 focusing on helping entrepreneurs improving self awareness and avoid repetitive mistakes in decision making. Graduates of this program have since raised over 400MM in funding. She is also the founding program director for "Essential Interpersonal Dynamic Program" at the Stanford Center at Peking University.

    She was the Co-founder & COO of Zhulilaiye (助理来也), an AI company focusing on providing personal assistant service to Chinese consumers powered by AI and human agents with over 4 MM users under her management. Laiye received serveral millions in series-B funding in December 2017.

    Prior to that, she was the Studio Head and Business Director at FunPlus, where she managed teams of over 80 people across US, Canada and China to produce and operate a Top 50 Facebook simulation game and a Top IOS grossing RTS game,King of Avalon.

    She has an MBA from Stanford and a B.S, summa cum laude, from Cornell. She was also a columnist for Forbes China and Linkedin China, and a regular contributor to The Financial Times China and The WSJ China, with over 2.5million followers on Douyin.

    I am a Shanghai native who grew up on hockey and maple syrup. After seven years of jet-setting corporate life, I gave up the ladder and co-founded an animation and computer graphics outsource company based in Beijing. Since its humble beginnings, the studio has built a customer base comprised of top industry leaders who entrust our artists with world-renowned and original properties. I am passionate about building a well-managed company. At the end of the day, the most valuable asset of every company is its people. As of January 2018, I took on a new challenge as the Service Line Director for Keywords Art Services serving 1200 employees worldwide to deliver the best game art to the industry.

    Prior to Mindwalk Studios, I had diverse professional experience at a Nortel Networks within management, marketing, corporate development, and corporate venturing functions. My varied experience is compounded as it stretched across North America, Asia, and Europe.

    Cindy Jensen is the Founder of InpowerOne China, a boutique consulting firm with a focus in Strategy Development, Executive Coaching and Leadership Development.

    She is a seasoned executive spending her corporate years working with Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo as part of the senior leadership team working over a span of ten years in multiple functions including HR, Sales & Operations and Trade Marketing. She later joined TELUS Mobility as National Account Manager overseeing the company’s two largest retail corporate accounts. Cindy works extensively throughout Asia Pacific working with leaders and their teams.

    InpowerOne China completed a China-wide research project with a focus on “Generational Differences and the Impact on Employee Engagement.” The research and article was published in the China Edition of Harvard Business review.

    Cindy is a Canadian and has been living in China for over 15 years and reigns from Vancouver, Canada. She has her BComm from Dalhousie University, Halifax Canada and her Executive MBA from Rutgers University.

    She is a certified ICF PCC Executive Coach. Cindy also serves on the Board of Educating Girls in Rural China a charity that focuses on providing scholarship funding for continued education to women from rural China.

Attending an Event
Events have limited seating, so to ensure your attendance we encourage advance online registration and payment for ALL events. We cannot guarantee entry to anyone not registered in advance. Most of our events are in English and off the record, but please check the webpage for each event to avoid disappointment.

Advance Tickets and Discounts 
Members can receive a discount by purchasing an advance ticket at least 24 hours before the day of the event. You must pay online at the time of registering for the event to be eligible for a discount. Discounts will not be available to members at the door.

Receipts (fapiao) 
NOTE:
From July 1st, we are not able to issue fapiaos for a month due to business registration upgrade under recently implemented Chinese State Council business and tax reform requirements.  Sorry for the inconvenience in advance, and the earliest estimated date we will be able to provide these fapiaos back to you is August 1st. 

You can receive your fapiao when you arrive for an event provided that you buy an advance ticket and pay online at least 1 working day before the event and you provide the correct information for your fapiao at that time. You can leave details of the type of fapiao you need on the registration and payment page.

Event attendees can request a fapiao at the door or up to two months after the event. Requests made after that time will not be accommodated. Please contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.

Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend an event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than one business day prior to the event. If you fail to notify AmCham China of your cancellation in a timely fashion, you will forfeit the fee you have already paid.

To cancel you can: 1) cancel directly online through the EventBank platform on which you registered or 2) contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.
