Summary

The American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China) is pleased to invite you to a teleconference with the US Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and members of the Embassy's Country Team. Ambassador Branstad will update the community on the Embassy's latest activities and the services that remain available for companies operating in China. Most of the call will be in Q&A format with the Ambassador and Embassy staff, moderated by AmCham China Chairman Greg Gilligan. All questions will be pre-submitted via the registration process.


Questions will be provided to the Ambassador and Embassy staff on a non-attributable basis and can be submitted via this event's registration form.

    US Ambassador to China

    Terry Branstad is the US Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. Ambassador Branstad was born, raised and educated in Iowa. He was elected to the Iowa House in 1972, ’74 and ’76, and elected as Iowa’s lieutenant governor in 1978. He was Iowa’s longest-serving governor, from 1983 to 1999. Following his four terms as governor, he served as President of Des Moines University (DMU). During his 6-year tenure, he was able to grow the university into a world-class educational facility. In October of 2009, sensing a need for change in the way state government operates, he retired from DMU and was once again elected Governor in 2010. His second tenure as Governor of Iowa continued till 2017 when he was nominated by President Donald Trump to be the United States’ Ambassador to China.

    Greg Gilligan joined the PGA TOUR in late 2013 as Vice President and is the lead executive in China serving as PGA TOUR China Managing Director. Currently Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Gilligan served in an elected capacity as Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, as an officer for four consecutive terms from 2011 – 2014.

    Prior to the PGA TOUR Mr. Gilligan was the Managing Director of APCO Worldwide’s Beijing office. He joined APCO after serving as General Manager of Corporate Affairs for McDonald’s (China) Co., Ltd., where he developed and executed strategies to enhance McDonald's brand and corporate image among China’s regulatory bodies, consumers and other key stakeholders. Prior to that role he served as McDonald’s China’s General Manager for Southeast China.
