Requests to tell a "good China story" are not a new phenomenon. Xi spelled out his expectations for propaganda and international discourse within the first year of his tenure. However, much has changed since 2013, especially given the continued deterioration of China's global image. In a recent Politburo study session, Xi once again underscored the importance of telling an accurate and comprehensive story about China. Yet, many find that Beijing's version of its "good story" is at times at odds with the west's.
What constitutes a good China story? What does China storytelling mean for multinational companies in China? How could China more effectively tell its story to a global audience?
AmCham China is pleased to organize a roundtable discussion on related topics with China Daily's senior leadership on Wednesday, July 21, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. AmCham China Chairman Greg Gilligan will be moderating the discussion. All Policy+ subscribing companies are encouraged to send one senior-level representative to attend. If space allows, we will open additional spots to those who are interested. To participate, please click "register" and submit the registration form. The deadline to register is Monday, July 19, 1:00 PM.
