***This event is postponed to June 28 from original date***
As per the Sunnylands Statement on Enhancing Cooperation to Address the Climate Crisis, jointly issued by the US and Chinese governments on November 15, 2023, both nations have committed to advancing at least five large-scale cooperative Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) projects by 2030. These projects will primarily focus on capturing carbon emissions from industrial and energy sources. Presently, the US Department of Energy (DOE) and China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) are actively collaborating to fulfill this commitment. Soon, they will unveil a program aligned with the Sunnylands agreements to select major CCUS projects in each respective country. Recognizing the vital role of corporate engagement, AmCham China's Business Sustainability Committee (BSC) is delighted to host Stephanie Duran, Director of DOE China and Kaitlin Oujo, Deputy Director of DOE China, for an information session on carbon management. This will help our members understand selection criteria and timelines to better identify and potentially act on upcoming opportunities on carbon management.
This session is particularly suitable for companies in energy, chemical, industrial, and technology sectors. Meanwhile, all AmCham members are welcomed to participate and contribute to this dialogue.
In this roundtable discussion, we will discuss:
- Overview of the US-China collaboration on carbon management
- Updates on CCUS work under the Sunnylands Statement, including selection criteria and timelines
