Event Details
The 28th meeting of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) was hosted in Dubai from 30 November until 12 December, 2023 with a vision tackling the global challenge of climate change. The joint final pact text marked several notable milestones: a commitment to shift from fossil fuels, recognition of peak emissions in 2025, a pledge to triple renewable capacity by 2030, and the establishment of a Loss & Damage fund. In light of these outcomes, the AmCham China's Business Sustainability Committee (BSC) is organizing a roundtable discussion to dissect the outcomes of COP28 and provide insights for Multinational Corporations (MNCs) operating in China. The event will delve into the global "net zero" goals set during COP28, analyze the Chinese government's response, and explore the implications for MNCs' practices within China. This is an opportunity for business leaders, policymakers, and sustainability enthusiasts to engage in a meaningful dialogue.
In this roundtable discussion, we will discuss:
- The progress of COP28 and business outlook
- China's green transition and US-China climate cooperation
- Transition finance and carbon market
- Sustainable consumption and climate action
Notes:
- This meeting will be off-the-record/ Members only.
- The seminar will be conducted in both Chinese and English.
