Corporate governance has become an essential tool for improving corporate performance and advancing the development of globally competitive market economies. Good governance practices maintain the integrity of business transactions and improve the economic environment for the benefit of all. Good corporate governance is also a powerful tool to fight against corruption and a way to protect investor rights, property ownership structure, and the rule of law. Dr. Yener will review the corporate governance frameworks in China and elsewhere based on recent studies and observations and concludes with recommendations to improve and maintain the integrity of corporate governance.
Dr. Yener will address the issue of finance capacity development for members of the boards of directors as part of the presentation and respond to questions and effective skills and capacities required to ensure effective corporate governance at family owned firms as well as large public companies. He will also share his observations regarding corporate governance practices at Chinese companies and other emerging countries, and conclude with a set of possible proposed solutions, especially regarding director capacity development.
