Due to unexpected circumstances, Fredrik Lofthagen will not be able to give the presentation, and Mark Pinner, Managing Director of Interel China will be the speaker instead.

New techniques with digital and social media in marketing, advertising and branding have radically changed these disciplines, whereas public affairs and government relations are seemingly conservative, often little changed from their practice 20 or even 30 years ago.

However, this is now changing. In his talk, Mark Pinner, Managing Director of global public affairs agency Interel, will draw on examples of best practice to show how digital and social media are now changing the way public affairs and government relations is conducted around the world.

    Mark is an experienced communications professional specialising in advising corporate clients on Chinese inbound and outbound investment issues.

    Before joining Interel he worked for Chinese MNC Lenovo in their Beijing head office for over five years, developing their consumer business’ international product communications capability in their global comms, marketing and regional sales teams.

    Prior to this he spent several years in public affairs consultancy positions in London and Beijing, and worked for the British Conservative Party in the UK Parliament..

    He has advised a range of MNC and association clients including Wiley, Euroclear, Canadian Standards Association, the Society of Women Engineers and Alibaba.

    Mark holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and a Bachelor of Science from Durham University in the UK. He has lived in Beijing for more than thirteen years. He speaks and reads Mandarin Chinese fluently.
