AmCham China Southwest Chapter is delighted to announce the establishment of the Business Sustainability Committee with 2 Co-Chairs: Sudipta Sarkar, Exploration and Development Manager at Chevron China Business Unit, and Nancy Tang, China Government Affairs Manager at Albemarle. The Business Sustainability Committee is aimed to connect industry leaders, experts, and professionals in the Southwest region to advocate for sustainability, facilitate business discussions and shares best practices.


Join us for the 2025 AmCham China Southwest Chapter Business Sustainability Committee Kick-Off Meeting to learn from our Co-Chairs, unveil committee event proposals, share proposed working plans, facilitate member discussions on committee activities, and encourage networking to explore new opportunities. This is a great opportunity to connect with peers, share insights, and contribute to shaping the committee's initiatives for the year.

    Sudipta Sarkar

    Exploration and Development Manager at Chevron China Business Unit

    Sudi currently serves as the Exploration and Development Manager in Chevron’s China Upstream Business Unit. In his previous role - before moving to China in 2023, he worked at Chevron’s Corporate headquarters in the USA as a strategy advisor on the Corporate Strategy team, where he worked with Chevron Executives on the company’s key corporate strategic and risk management issues.
    Prior to that, Sudi worked at Chevron Technology Ventures (CTV) - a leading Corporate VC group in the global energy industry, where he had diverse leadership roles, including managing technology pilots and deployment of startup technologies into Chevron’s businesses worldwide.
    In the early days of his 16 years career with Chevron, Sudi had a wide variety of technical and project management roles in different functions and locations in the USA. He provided technical services, led internal research and development, and managed cross-functional projects for Chevron. Before joining Chevron, he worked for Schlumberger Oil Field Services internationally as a field engineer and had done multiple internships at ExxonMobil in the USA, and other oil & gas companies in Turkey and Bangladesh.
    Sudi believes in life-long learning. In 2023, he completed an online education program in Financing and Deploying Clean Energy from Yale University, while working full-time and moving to China with his family. He holds a PhD degree in Geophysics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, USA and a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Turkey.
    In his spare time, Sudi enjoys volunteering for professional and social organizations that he is affiliated with.

    Albemarle China Government Affairs Manager, responsible for communication and cooperation with key external stakeholders, including government, communities, industry association etc.
    Nancy Tang has 18 years Lithium Industry working experience, and she is familiar with Lithium industry mine resources, manufacturing, marketing and application.
    Before joining Albemarle in 2017, Nancy Tang served as General Manager Assistant and Sales manager in Jiangxi Jiangli New Materials Co., Ltd.
    Nancy Tang is vice chair of Meishan International Commerce Association. She graduated from Chinawest Normal University and majored in English.
