The year 2020 can be remembered in many ways, fear, uncertainties, lockdowns, overwhelming during crisis response and racing in recovery, anxiety and beyond. Nonetheless, with only 50 some days left for the year, AmCham China would like to invite our members to the 39th Annual General Meeting on Thursday, November 19, to share Our Version of the 2020 Stories: Accomplishments by a Resilient Organization and Gratitude for A Membership of Solidarity.
In spite of the prolonged isolation and travel restrictions, our spirit of community togetherness has never been missed. Our Chairman Greg Gilligan and President Al Beebe look forward to hosting our membership of large and small businesses across all different industries hit hard by but fast recovering from the pandemic to a moment of reflection and unity as we leave this year behind and work on the next chapter of many of our priorities, including a new stage of U.S.-China relations continuing to have commerce as its cornerstone, further integration of FDIs to China's economic landscape shaped by the countries sector-based reforms and regional development initiatives, and revisit of the fundamental safety net ties crucial to the longstanding commercial relationship between our two countries, for example education, culture, and people exchanges.
Like before, our AGM continues to be a platform for our annual Board of Governors election, allowing candidates running for our Board rallying face to face with our voting membership.
Wrapping this year up and kicking off the holiday season, we hope the Annual General Meeting, in the form of a dinner banquet, provide a good sense of comfort and warmth for us to look back, look forward and share a moment of togetherness as we go into the Winter while the Spring awaits.
Please note that in order to ensure accessibility to the Annual General Meeting by our membership, there is no cost for our cardholding membership to RSVP and attend the program, while non-cardholding member company employees will be asked to pay a cost price. Members of our Board of Governors, Chairman's Circle, Forums and Committee leadership and candidates running for the 2021 Board enjoy the privilege of priority RSVPs.

Gilligan
Chairman at AmCham China
Greg Gilligan joined the PGA TOUR in late 2013 as Vice President and is the lead executive in China serving as PGA TOUR China Managing Director. Currently Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Gilligan served in an elected capacity as Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, as an officer for four consecutive terms from 2011 – 2014.
Prior to the PGA TOUR Mr. Gilligan was the Managing Director of APCO Worldwide’s Beijing office. He joined APCO after serving as General Manager of Corporate Affairs for McDonald’s (China) Co., Ltd., where he developed and executed strategies to enhance McDonald's brand and corporate image among China’s regulatory bodies, consumers and other key stakeholders. Prior to that role he served as McDonald’s China’s General Manager for Southeast China.
Alan Beebe

Alan Beebe was appointed President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China on Mar. 14, 2016.
Alan was an Executive Director based in Beijing, leading EY China’s Cleantech and Supply Chain and Operations (SC&O) practices. His clients include major global corporations, primarily diversified industrials and high-technology companies operating in China.
Prior to joining EY, Alan held Executive positions with the China Greentech Initiative (CGTI), IBM, and management consulting firms AT Kearney and PRTM. He has twenty years of management consulting experience in the US, China and other Asian countries helping clients develop and implement sound business, operations and technology strategies. At EY China, he helps global clients transform their business models to drive new revenue opportunities and preserve profitability in China’s changing economic climate.
From 2010 to 2013, Alan was a Managing Director with CGTI, a collaboration platform serving over 50 international energy and environmental companies. At CGTI, he led advisory services and strategic research across all major areas of energy and cleantech. In 2014, CGTI merged with the Paulson Institute, founded by Hank Paulson.
Alan holds a Master’s degree from Yale University in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the United States. He is a Board of Advisor of the Yale Club of Beijing and in that capacity promotes academic and cultural exchanges between the United States and China. Alan has lived in China since 2002 and speaks Chinese fluently.
