China Economic Reform Series: Ma Jun on China's Environmental Reforms
The China Economic Reform Series is a series of presentations by experts from academia and both the public and private sectors to offer analysis and updates on China's ongoing economic reforms, organized by the AmCham China Policy Committee. In this part of our series, we will be focusing on China's environmental protection reforms.
AmCham China is pleased to host Ma Jun, one of the leading environmentalists in China. In 2006, Ma Jun was named by TIME Magazine as one of the World's 100 Most Influential People. In the same year, he founded the Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs (IPE), a Beijing-based non-profit organization that has developed the China Pollution Map Database, the first database of corporate environmental performance in China. Ma Jun continues as the director of IPE and, in 2012, won the Goldman Prize for his environmental work and advocacy in China.
Join us for a discussion with Ma Jun on China's environmental protection reforms in an era of expanding information disclosure. Ma Jun will also provide insights into IPE's Green Supply Chain programs, which look at how companies sourcing from China can identify suppliers with pollution problems, and work with them to correct these issues.
