Join AmCham China's Healthcare Industry Forum for a discussion on China's emerging senior care sector. Dr. Zhanlian Feng and Dr. Joshua Wiener from RTI International will present the evolving Chinese senior care market and government policy in aging, disability and long-term care, and how they fit into worldwide aging.

Currently, China has three times as many older people as the US. In 2010, there were 119 million Chinese aged 65 and older, and this number is projected to more than triple in the next 30 years, to reach 382 million by 2040. As demographic shifts and socioeconomic changes erode traditional elder care, new senior care services have emerged to meet escalating demand.
The government has increasingly called on the private sector to assist in the development of services by offering various policy inducements, such as tax exemption, subsidies for new and existing beds, land allotment or leasing for new construction, and reduced utility rates. In addition, new policies are set to widen access to China's senior care market for overseas investors.
