As the old saying goes "When the wind of change blows, some build walls, while others build windmills". As China's real estate market continues to grow and evolve, it is important for investors to stay on top of such changes, as well as the risks, challenges and opportunities that they bring.
As part of its continuing 2013 Industry Market Outlook Series, AmCham China is pleased to invite you to a panel discussion on the market environment and short-term outlook of the real estate sector in China. This panel features Hongfei Chen, director at CBRE Research - Northern China; Ashley Howlett, partner at Jones Day; and Kai Wang, head of real estate at DLA Piper Beijing, to examine the latest developments in China's real estate market.
The discussion will begin with a brief update by Kai Wang on the recent changes to China's real estate law and policies and will be followed by Hongfei Chen on the issue of oversupply in the commercial real estate market, especially in second tier cities. Hongfei Chen will dissect the problem by looking at different submarkets, segments, and product types, which together give a picture of an imbalanced and multi-level evolution in the commercial real estate market. Ashley Howlett will then discuss the practical issues currently related to real estate development, including the use of standard construction contracts, the requirements for the filing of the construction contracts, choosing contractors, working with project managers, dealing with construction delays, and dispute resolution.
The event will be moderated by Kai Wang.
