AmCham China cordially invites you to attend our BIO trip to Heilongjiang, led by AmCham China Chairman Gregory Gilligan, from July 9-12. This four-day trip includes visits to Harbin (哈尔滨), Daqing (大庆) and Qiqihar (齐齐哈尔). Heilongjiang is famous for its rich land and abundant natural resources, providing good business opportunities in the agriculture, mining and lumber industries.
Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang province, serves as a key political, economic and cultural hub in the northeast. Automobile, pharmaceutical, agriculture and manufacturing are the leading industries in Harbin. In 2010, UNESCO recognized Harbin as a "City of Music" in its Creative Cities Network.
Daqing, which literally means "Great Celebration," is known as the oil capital of China. Its economy mainly depends on petroleum and related industries. Nevertheless, in recent years other industries have also developed rapidly here, such as equipment manufacturing, modern agriculture and advanced materials.
Located in the northwestern part of the province, Qiqihar is Heilongjiang's second largest city and is known for its long history as a comprehensive industrial base. It is also the corn production hub for Heilongjiang, meaning food and beverage are other pillar industries for Qiqihar. Over the next decade, Qiqihar is expected to be one of the fastest growing cities in China.
During this BIO trip, you will meet the newly elected provincial and municipal leaders, visit various development zones and learn firsthand about the investment policy and environment there.
