Karen Guo, sustainability leader of Dow Asia Pacific, is responsible for advancing the incorporation of sustainability into business and functional strategies, and to advance the contributions of Asia Pacific to the accomplishment of Dow's breakthrough 2015 Sustainability Goals. Karen has more than 15 years experience in both business and non-profit organizations. Karen has been invited as advisor and expert for research and study by Chinese governments and international organizations, esp. in the area of China's green economy and Ecological & Carbon Footprint study. Karen Guo holds an MSC. in Economics.
Andrea Lane founded FYSE in 2008, and grew it into a cutting-edge organization that currently provides support to social entrepreneurs in 10 countries in Asia. Previously to FYSE Andrea worked as Head of Project Management and Outreach for Enterprise Asia, a leading regional think tank for entrepreneurship based in Malaysia. As part of her role she established the organizations presence in Indonesia and China. Prior to Enterprise Asia she worked as Director External Relations for AIESEC based in Hong Kong, managing multistakeholder partnerships with organization such as OXFAM, MTR and CLP. Andrea has extensive start-up and management experience in various Asian countries including Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Malaysia. She holds a Master in East Asian Studies from the University of Bristol, England and graduated from INSEAD's International Social Entrepreneur Program.
Irene Shao is the Founder & CEO of Bridging Education And Mobility (BEAM), a start-up nonprofit that recently celebrated its first birthday. After graduating from Cornell with a degree in History and Music, she came to Beijing in pursuit of a dual degree Masters, only to drop out shortly after founding BEAM, a nonprofit with the vision that anyone with an idea for a transformational education project should have the resources to turn that idea into a reality.
Jim Spear, fluent in Chinese and educated at the University of California, Berkeley, spent nearly 20 years doing business in China prior to moving full-time to his vacation house at Mutianyu Great Wall in 2005 and founding The Schoolhouse at Mutianyu, a for-profit sustainable tourism enterprise. The Schoolhouse was honored with the 2012 China Responsible Tourism Award from the Pacific Asia Travel Association, selected as the top tourism enterprise in Beijing's scenic Huairou District in 2010, and previously earned the HICAP Sustainable Communities Award.
Agyness Zhu is the Corporate Social Responsibilities Manager for Diageo China. She leads CSR strategy, programs and related communication. She also counsels for Diageo brands in CSR strategies in the China region. With Diageo, a leading premium drinks business, Agyness has worked with brands such as Johnnie Walker, Ketel One, the Singlton of Glen Ord and Shui Jing Fang.
