For many years, heady economic growth masked a divided continent: a northeast Asian group of states with extraordinary developmental success, and another group that proved to be paper tigers. Join AmCham China for a lunchtime presentation by author Joe Studwell, who will dissect the region's successes and failures in economic development and discuss the key to foreign business success and understanding the nature of worldwide economic development through the story of East Asian economies.
Joe Studwell has worked as a freelance writer and journalist in East Asia for over 20 years. He has written for the Economist Intelligence Unit, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and several other notable publications. From 1997-2007, Studwell was the founding editor of the China Economic Quarterly, and was also a founder and director of Asian advisory firm, Dragonomics (now GaveKal Dragonomics). His latest book, "How Asia Works: Success and Failure in the World's Most Dynamic Region," was published in March of 2013.
