Non-traditional Media as a Catalyst for Reform in China (Members Only)
In recent years non-traditional media, including various forms of citizen journalism, have increasingly reported on sensitive issues in China with significant impacts on policy, enforcement, and public perceptions. To take some recent examples, environmental activism has led to cancellation or modification of numerous industrial developments and raised awareness of environmental problems, the new leadership's anti-corruption campaign has been bolstered by whistle blowers and their followers on Chinese social networks, and there's been criticism of traditional media controls.
How are the fields of traditional media and policy advocacy changing with the rise of non-traditional media? What are the limits to this type of advocacy? What further changes are expected, and how might they impact foreign businesses in China?
Please join AmCham China's Policy Committee for this members-only panel discussion on the impact non-traditional media is having on both the policy and business environments in China.
