Onshore PRC Oil and Gas Projects: Meeting International Business Obligations
In this event co-hosted by the AmCham China Oil, Energy & Power (OEP) Forum and Business Sustainability Committee, a panel of experts will explore the challenges facing MNCs in meeting international business obligations when participating in oil and gas projects in China. The speakers can provide legal analysis as well as insights from experience implementing compliance systems. While the focus will be on oil and gas projects, speakers will also discuss legal principles and draw out lessons that apply to all major projects in China.
The panel discussion will cover: • the framework of international and local business obligations affecting oil and gas operations in the PRC, including anti-bribery • reputational and legal risks of non-compliance • strategies for achieving and maintaining compliance in onshore oil and gas projects • IFC standards and key concerns for projects in China • issues operating in joint venture with national oil companies (NOCs) and other local partners • emerging issues in China related to shale gas and other unconventional gas projects
