Stephen Green, head of Greater China research at Standard Chartered Bank, will share with us his recent observations on China's economic development, discussing how to read and interpret China's official statistics.

Green is well known for his research on China's official statics in which he analyzes statistical indicators for measuring what is really happening in China's economy and estimates their accuracy.

About Stephen Green:
Green is based in Hong Kong, where he heads up the Greater China research team in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei. The team covers macroeconomics, rates, FX, and financial and commodity market developments.
Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, Green was Head of the Asia Programme at London's Chatham House, The Royal Institute of International Affairs, and was the Deputy Editor on The Economist's The World in... magazine for several years. He has worked in rural Kenya and Mozambique, doing humanitarian relief work, as well as teaching.

Green has a PhD from the Department of Government, London School of Economics, and Political Science and a first class Honours degree from Cambridge University. He has been a visiting researcher at Fudan University in Shanghai and at the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

His fourth book, '大国经济之路' (The Challenges of China's Economy) was published in Chinese in January 2010 by CITIC Publishers. Green also writes regularly for The Economic Observer, 21st Century Business Herald, New Fortune and China Business News, as well as for the Asian Wall Street Journal.
