Briefing: Embassy Update on US Visa Issues in China
AmCham China's Visa Committee hosts this briefing with the US Embassy in Beijing. Deputy Consul General Scott Oudkirk will address members on the visa policy changes that have taken place following President Obama's January 2012 executive order. These changes have been instituted to "improve visa and foreign visitor processing and travel promotion in order to create jobs and spur economic growth in the United States, while continuing to protect our national security." Oudkirk will also discuss the new interview waiver pilot program, the re-opening of the former Embassy consular facility, staffing changes and changes in scheduling.
This will be followed by a presentation by Visa Committee Co-Chair Gary Chodorow on B1 (visitor for business) visas to the US. Chodorow will discuss the line between permissible business activities and impermissible work.
