AmCham China hosts this panel discussion with labor and HR experts from Steptoe & Johnson, Paul Hastings, and the NYU School of Law. The panel will look at the government objectives promoting the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) and the ACFTU-led collective wage bargaining among foreign-owned enterprises (FIEs) operating in China.
FIEs need to be aware of the sources of wage pressure, the condition of the hukou system, and the evolution of the mediation-arbitration process in handling migrant worker claims. By having professionals familiar with these issues, the discussion will compare the US and China situations surrounding unionization and collective bargaining issues. In addition to these issues, the panel welcomes suggestions for other topics, practical or theoretical, that may be discussed.
