The AmCham China Oil, Energy & Power Forum (OEP) invites you to this roundtable featuring leading energy experts from the US and China to discuss issues surrounding the US shale experience and potential lessons and pitfalls for China. In this follow-up event to AmCham China's December 1, 2011 presentation on the "Revolution in US Shale Gas Production", Hugh Tucker, partner and head of the Oil and Gas Section of the leading global energy firm Baker Botts, will be visiting from Houston, Texas to provide his perspective on the recent boom in shale-related mergers and acquisitions in North America. Tucker will discuss his experience working on some of the largest and most significant shale deals in North America.

Zhou Xizhou, head of china energy for IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates, will then lead an open panel discussion with invited guests as well as members of the audience regarding lessons and pitfalls from the North American shale experience and the latest issues confronting the development of shale in China. Bradley Way, head of asia energy, Renaissance Capital, will also join the panel discussion.
This will be a highly interactive roundtable led by the panelists; we encourage the audience to share their views and experiences.

Key topics to be covered include:
• how oil and gas companies from around the world continue to cut new deals in North America to build reserves and acquire new drilling techniques
• implications of North American shale on gas markets and downstream projects
• significance of the recent designation of shale as a "independent resource" distinct from conventional hydrocarbons by China's Ministry of Land and Resources
• opportunities for international participants and private Chinese companies in the development of China's shale resources
