YouTube, Facebook, Twitter … blocked
Their Chinese equivalents … booming
The future ... uncertain
The "Great Firewall of China" means that popular American sites like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter are inaccessible in China … but that doesn't mean China isn't obsessed with social networking. Hundreds of millions of Chinese people are turning to lively, homegrown networks like Sina and Tencent Weibo, Renren, Youku and more, creating an online ecosystem that is uniquely Chinese. How are these powerful platforms affecting the way multinational companies launch products or manage public relations in China? How are government efforts to manage these platforms changing the environment? What are the practical and ethical challenges of marketing on the Chinese Internet? What do emerging mobile technologies mean for all of this?
AmCham China's Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations (MAP) Forum host this discussion with a panel of experts on how this strange, new world is creating opportunities for companies reaching out to Chinese consumers, and also creating risks.
