This newly released documentary shows the heroism of American pilots and the compassion of Chinese villagers during an epic period of the Second World War. "Touching Tigers" tells the tale of a US fighter pilot shot down over China and his rescue by local farmers and soldiers. His journey back to a US air base lasted 60 harrowing days in which the airman formed an unforgettable attachment to the Chinese people, leading to his final journey of gratitude back to China in 2010 at the age of 86.
The documentary was commissioned by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of CPAFFC, has played a key role in the making of the documentary.

Flying Tiger squadrons trained in Burma (now Myanmar) before the American entry into World War II with the mission of defending China against Japanese forces. The Tigers' shark-faced fighter planes remain among the most recognizable of any combat aircraft of World War II, or any other era, and the hard charging heroism and skills of the pilots are legendary.
