Michael Hart is President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China based in Beijing. He has over twenty-five years of business experience in Asia, including nineteen years in mainland China.
As President, Michael oversees all advocacy, programs, partnerships, and insights provided by the Chamber to support the business growth of nearly 900 foreign corporations operating in China, including most of the U.S. Fortune 500. The chamber’s advocacy includes the impressive American Business in China White Paper and Business Climate Survey each published annually as well as numerous interactions with both the US and Chinese governments on behalf of our members.
Prior to joining AmCham China, Michael spent most of his career in commercial real estate in Taipei, Shanghai and Tianjin including almost 20 years for a NYSE listed property services firm. He started in the research division briefing real estate owners, occupiers and investors on transactions and macro trends, he then opened, built, and led a branch office for the company in one of China’s largest Tier 1.5 cities for over a decade. Following this, Michael opened a private consulting and investment firm that among other projects invested in quick service restaurants.
In addition to this work, Michael was a long-term AmCham member and served on the Tianjin chapter’s Executive Committee for nearly 15 years including several terms as the local Chairman.
Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on finance and banking from the University of Missouri-Columbia in the U.S. He is a fluent speaker of mandarin Chinese. Michael was born and raised near Kansas City, Missouri.
Mr. Yuan has long been engaged in research on enterprise system, enterprise development environment and policy research, covering a wide range of areas such as business environment, corporate governance, enterprise internationalization, digital transformation, and industry regulatory policy. He has published more than 100 policy research reports and 10 academic books, and has been awarded for excellent research results. He holds PhD in Economics from Peking University and was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University.
Ms. Meng Liu is the Head of Liaison Office in China of the United Nations Global Compact. She joined the United Nations Headquarters in 2007 at the Executive Office of the Secretary General. Previously, Ms. Liu worked for the Asia Foundation and World Resources Institute, and was a fellow on Asian public policy with Harvard Kennedy School. Book author of “Responsibility Changes the World-UN Global Compact Leading Business Revolution Worldwide”.
Claire leads the Member Services, Government Affairs & Policy teams, and oversees the Chamber’s Cooperation Programs.
Previously, Dr. Liu was the Vice President of Knorr-Bremse (China), member of the core management team in China; Vice President of Thales Group (China), member of the core management team in China; Director of Marketing and Business Development and Director of Government Affairs of Siemens (China) Co., Ltd.; Chief Representative of the Beijing Representative Office of Herrenknecht AG (China); Senior Manager of Sales and Marketing of Herrenknecht AG (Germany); Official of the Chinese Embassy; Lecturer at the Beijing Youth Politics College. Dr. Liu holds a PhD in Economics and a Master of Business Administration. She has 20 years of experience in the industry, including at Fortune 500 multinational corporations, governmental organizations, and higher education institutions.
With more than 15 years of experience in strategic planning, project management, product lifecycle management and marketing, sales and operation planning, and integrated and digital marketing in multinational corporations, Mr. Sun has helped his clients accomplish strategic upgrading and performance improvement through digital transformation layout and implementation. His work experience covers a wide range of fields including automotive, management consulting, retail, and crop science. He served as the Director of Marketing, Product Management, Channel Management, and Key Account Sales at Bayer Crop Science and Syngenta Group China, as well as Director of Marketing and PMO at AGCO Corporation.
Ms. Ren is the Business Director of the ESG department at PwC China. With over 12 years of experience in the field of ESG sustainable development, She has led teams to provide ESG sustainable development consulting and research support for national ministries such as the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Ministry of Finance, as well as many large multinational corporations, state-owned enterprises, and private companies.
Ms. Lian joined Bayer China since 2019 to present as the Communications Business Partner for Bayer Crop Science Division, improving public acceptance, fostering dialogue with stakeholders, and escalating brand reputation. Previously, she joined Monsanto China since 2014 through 2019 as the Planning & Content Manager then took the role as Corporate Engagement Lead for China.
She has 8 out of 16 years of experience in Ag sector – brand reputation, company positioning, public acceptance, media activation, issue/crisis, industry advocacy, cultural transformation, Sustainability, ESG, CSR, PPP, etc.
Ke Sun currently serves as the Chair of the Digital Economy and Industrial Economy Division at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT). He is also the Deputy Director of the Institute of Policy and Economics at CAICT. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and the title of Professor-level Senior Engineer, while also serving as a visiting professor. His research areas include digital economy, industrial economy, information consumption, Internet Plus (Internet+), and data elements. His research achievements include leading and deeply participating in over ten national-level strategic plans, receiving multiple awards for scientific research at the provincial and ministerial levels. He has published more than 50 papers in prominent journals such as People's Daily and Economic Daily and has authored several books including “The Rise of the Digital Economy”, “General Theory of the Digital Economy: Theory, Pathways, and Models”, and “Research on Digital Economic Policies”.
Mr. Weijia Wang serves as the Vice President of Dell Technologies. As the leader of Greater China Government affairs team, he oversees communication and cooperation with governments, trade associations and relevant organizations to support Dell’s business in Greater China region.
Prior to joining Dell in 2017, Weijia Wang served at senior management positions of Government Affairs at leading consulting firms where he provided strategic counsel and professional services specializing in government relations, public policy, strategic development, and issues and crisis management to a range of multinational companies across industries in China.
Before that, he worked for the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM), where he was responsible for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), regional economic cooperation and free trade negotiations. He also served as Commercial Consul at the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago, USA.
Weijia Wang graduated from the School of Foreign Studies of Nanjing University.
Joanna joined the United States Information Technology Office (USITO) in Sept. 2015 serving as its Deputy Managing Director. Prior to that, Joanna was employed with Lenovo, Intel, A.P. Muller. Maersk, Microsoft and Ogilvy&Mather. She had 17 years of marketing, communication and partner management experience in the information technology sector, and when serving as spokeswoman, oversaw government affairs in North Asia. Joanna was once in investment banking, providing counseling for Chinese companies seeking overseas listing while serving for ING Baring.
Jenny is in charge of the business strategy for e-commerce among SMEs in Meta's Greater China Region. Alongside her regional team, she assists SMEs in expanding their global reach. Jenny joined Meta in 2015 and was the company's first recruit in the Greater China Region to establish the business planning & operations (BP&O) function. She is an advocate for Meta's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) social impact group. Before joining Meta, Jenny held leadership roles in business planning and operations at Microsoft and other companies. She is also a certified sake sommelier and is committed to using technological innovation to create positive impacts and overcome challenges.
Ing Wang serves as Public Policy Director at Amazon, driving IP protection, product safety and consumer protection topics across China. Before joining Amazon, Ing gained rich experiences on global regulatory environment at European Chamber of Commerce, central level media and top-tier public affairs agencies.
