Dr Fang Jin is Senior Research Fellow at DRC and Secretary General, of CDRF. His research is focused on medium to long term challenges facing China’s economic and social development. He coauthored the book A Trap or A Wall: The Real Challenges and Strategies Facing Chinese Economy, which won the 2013 Sun Yefang Economic Prize, the highest honor for excellence in economic research in China. He holds a Doctoral degree from School of Economics, Peking University, a Master degree and a Bachelor degree of Economics from Macquarie University in Australia.

The Honorable William Zarit advises U.S. multinationals working in the Chinese commercial market and helps Chinese companies navigate the U.S. investment environment. A Senior Counselor with The Cohen Group, he also serves as Chairman of the Board for the American Chamber of Commerce in China.

Until May 2014 Mr. Zarit was Minister for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, in charge of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s trade promotion and trade policy activities in its operations in Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Shenyang. He retired with the diplomatic rank of Career Minister.

Prior to his posting to Beijing, Mr. Zarit was Deputy Assistant Secretary, International Operations, for the U.S. Commercial Service, overseeing Commercial Sections in U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide. The U.S. Commercial Service is the Federal Government’s front line trade agency, promoting both U.S. exports and foreign investment into the U.S., and protecting U.S. commercial interests overseas. Prior to that Mr. Zarit served as the U.S. Commercial Service’s Regional Director for East Asia/Pacific. He also served as Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Deputy Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, and Deputy Senior Commercial Officer at the American Institute in Taiwan.

Before joining the U.S. Commercial Service Mr. Zarit was Economic and Commercial Program Officer for the New York-based National Committee on U.S.-China Relations. Prior to that he served as Marketing Manager/China for Pacific Bell’s international operations, preceded by his work as Project Manager for the first IBM PC dealer in China, China Business Associates. Mr. Zarit also served as Mandarin Chinese Interpreter for the U.S. State Department Language Services.

He earned an M.B.A. with Honors from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. with Honors in Political Science from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

Katie Beck is the Head of External Relations at the Western Academy of Beijing, where she serves as a liaison between the school and key partner organizations.

Prior to joining WAB, Katie led the Government Affairs and Policy Team at AmCham China, where she spent nearly a decade advocating for foreign businesses operating in China. Katie currently serves as a co-chair for AmCham China’s Education Committee.

Katie received a BS in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University and an MA in Asian Studies from The George Washington University. She has been working in China for over 14 years.

Gloria Xu is China Country Manager and Vice President, External Affairs of Albemarle. In this role, Gloria represents Albemarle in China and is charged to develop a strategic vision and effective engagement plans for the company to grow sustainable in the country.
Before joining Albemarle in Feb, 2022, Gloria Xu worked for Dow Inc for more than 7 years and her last role was Vice President, Greater China, serving as Dow’s corporate representative with government, trade associations and other key external stakeholders.
Before joining Dow in 2014, she led the China government affairs functions of DuPont and Standard Chartered Bank respectively for 13 years.
Gloria was China Public Relations Manager of Alibaba.com Group in 2000-2001 and helped build up brand awareness of the new company in its early years.
From 1993 to 2000, Gloria was a political correspondent with China Daily, covering legislative and foreign affairs, military, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan news.
She was elected to the Board of Governors of AmCham China in 2017-2020 and again in 2022. She was a vice Chair of AmCham China in 2020 and was re-elected in 2022.
Gloria graduated from Nanjing University with a BA in English Language and Literature.

Mr. Wenjie Gu is the Co-Chair of AmCham China ICT Forum and China Chief Representative of Zoom Video Communications, Inc., heading government affairs, public relations, external partners and business related matters, with his team spreading across several important Chinese cities.

As the principle government interface in this fast growing Internet company, Mr. Gu is building up the company’s image, reputation and mutual trust with government, navigating policy and advocacy, and delivering the right message while maintaining the company’s substantive presence in China.

Before joining Zoom, Mr. Gu had held senior positions for nearly 20 years with the U.S hi-tech industry, including Director / Senior Director of government relations and public policy in Autodesk Software, Broadcom Semiconductor and Amazon, and China Vice President of the U.S. Information Technology Office.

Mr. Gu graduated from the English Department of Beijing Foreign Studies University, obtained his MBA degree and M.S. of Finance from the U.S. Fordham University. MR. ZHANG XIAOQIANG, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the Executive Office and legal representative of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), in charge of the overall work of the Executive Office and the coordination of important researches at CCIEE.
