Michael Hart is President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China based in Beijing. He has over twenty-five years of business experience in Asia, including nineteen years in mainland China.

As President, Michael oversees all advocacy, programs, partnerships, and insights provided by the Chamber to support the business growth of nearly 900 foreign corporations operating in China, including most of the U.S. Fortune 500. The chamber’s advocacy includes the impressive American Business in China White Paper and Business Climate Survey each published annually as well as numerous interactions with both the US and Chinese governments on behalf of our members.

Prior to joining AmCham China, Michael spent most of his career in commercial real estate in Taipei, Shanghai and Tianjin including almost 20 years for a NYSE listed property services firm. He started in the research division briefing real estate owners, occupiers and investors on transactions and macro trends, he then opened, built, and led a branch office for the company in one of China’s largest Tier 1.5 cities for over a decade. Following this, Michael opened a private consulting and investment firm that among other projects invested in quick service restaurants.

In addition to this work, Michael was a long-term AmCham member and served on the Tianjin chapter’s Executive Committee for nearly 15 years including several terms as the local Chairman.

Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on finance and banking from the University of Missouri-Columbia in the U.S. He is a fluent speaker of mandarin Chinese. Michael was born and raised near Kansas City, Missouri.

Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee took office as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in China on 16 January 2021 and presented his letter of credentials to the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, on 14 April 2021. The Resident Coordinator (RC), is the highest ranking representative of the UN Development System. The RC is the designated representative of - and reports to - the UN Secretary-General.

Mr. Chatterjee has more than 25 years of experience in international cooperation, sustainable development, humanitarian coordination and peace and security, which he has acquired at the United Nations and externally.

Most recently, he served as United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kenya after holding other leadership positions across the Organization, including Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Kenya, Regional Director for the Middle East and Europe for the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Denmark and Chief of Staff in the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). He also held leadership positions with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Indonesia, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan and in United Nations peacekeeping operations with the United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH).

Mr. Chatterjee has also served in the Red Cross Movement (IFRC) as the Chief Diplomat and Head of Resource Mobilization in Switzerland.

A 3 times TEDx speaker, he is a regular opinion contributor on humanitarian and development issues for a range journals which includes Newsweek, Los Angeles Times, the Hill, Reuters, Huffington Post, Forbes, CNBC Africa, CNN, Al Jazeera, the Guardian as well as of late he has also published in mainstream Chinese journals.

Mr. Chatterjee holds a master’s degree in public policy from Princeton University in the United States of America and a bachelor’s degree from the National Defence Academy in India.

Mr. Chatterjee is married, and they have a son.

Dr. Fang Jin is the Secretary General and Vice Chairman of China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) and a senior research fellow at the Development Research Center (DRC) of the State Council, People’s Republic of China. Under his leadership, CDRF has actively engaged in international communication, policy research and social experiments, fulfilling its mission to advance good governance and public policy to promote economic development and social progress. His main area of research is China’s medium to long term economic and social development issues and has written extensively on relevant topic. He holds a Doctoral degree from School of Economics, Peking University and a Master Degree and a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University in Australia. He was also a visiting scholar at Harvard Kennedy School. His research publication has won the Sun Yefang Economic Prize and the Special Prize of China Development Research Award.

Lipo Shan is the Director-General of the China Centre for Promotion of SME development of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Secretary-General of the China International Cooperation Association of SMEs. Since his graduation from Peking University, Mr. Shan worked at Tsinghua University, the State Information Center, the Information Technology Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission. After Shan spent three years in the “Aid-Tibet” program, he served as the deputy director-general of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of the Tibet Autonomous Region, deputy director general at the Bureau of Cybersecurity of the CAC, deputy director-general and Secretary-General of the Advisory Committee for State Informatization. He achieved the rank of Director-General when heading China National Tendering Center of Machine and Electric Equipment (Government Procurement Center of MIIT). He has long participated in national informatization and cybersecurity planning, the research, formulation and specific promotion of relevant law and policy, with extensive research and practical experience in e-government, the digital transformation of enterprises, the development of the digital industry, global governance of the Internet, and the development of SMEs.

Mr. Ding Yadong, Master of Communication, from the School of Journalism and Communication of Peking University, is currently the Deputy Executive Director of China Foundation For Rural Development supervised by the National Rural Revitalization Administration (formerly the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development) and the President of the Sichuan Mengding Moutain Cooperative Development Training Institute supervised by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. He has been working in the fields of poverty alleviation, rural revitalization, corporate social responsibility and public welfare cooperation for a long time. In 2005, Mr. Ding joined the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (renamed as China Foundation For Rural Development in 2022) and served as Director of the Resource Development Department and Senior Program Manager of the Brand and Communications Department. He is currently responsible for work related to resource development, rural revitalisation collaboration and rural industrial development.

Zha Daojiong is a Professor in the School of International Studies and Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development, Peking University. His areas of expertise include international political economy and China’s international economic relations (particularly the fields of energy, natural resources and food security), development aid, public health, and the economics-political nexus in the Asia-Pacific region. He is a regular participant in Track II dialogues between China and the United States on issues ranging from trade and investment to public health. He also contributes opinion pieces in newspapers including the South China Morning Post. He studied at the University of Hawaii and the East West Center, where he earned a Doctorate in Political Science.

Jennifer has over a decade of experience working in Greater China. Through senior positions at the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington DC and Beijing at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Commercial Service across China, she has garnered broad experience in government affairs, trade policy, communications, CSR, and creating Public-Private Partnerships across many industry sectors. In over 7 years working in diplomatic capacities, Jennifer had key roles in 16+ senior level bilateral meetings including Strategic & Economic Dialogue (S&ED) and Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) negotiations.

While Senior Policy Advisor for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Jennifer served as the chief China representative for the Office of Policy and International and advisor to the Assistant Secretary overseeing U.S.-China policy and cooperation in Clean Energy. She was the Chief architect overhauling U.S.-China Energy Policy Dialogue, creating a framework aligning government-to-government policy negotiations with private/3rd sector technical, and commercial cooperation with China. In this capacity, Jennifer served as key negotiator and liaison with multiple Chinese ministries, across U.S. Government agencies, DOE Technical offices, private industry (including Energy Cooperation Program), and Lab/University stakeholders in establishing sector roadmaps. Jennifer was also primary China lead in coordinating between three consortia of U.S. and Chinese companies in the execution of the landmark $150m Clean Energy Research Center (CERC) launched by Presidents Obama and Hu.
Prior to DOE, Jennifer worked in various capacities in trade policy, trade advocacy/promotion, and marketing-communications for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Commercial Service across the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in China for six years.

Gracie Sun serves as Managing Director of the Green Finance Center and Senior Advisor of the Paulson Institute. The Center was launched in 2018 to focus on the use of market mechanisms to promote green development and support climate change. She has served as an Advisor to the Paulson Institute since its launch. In this capacity, she played a key role in the creation and launch of the U.S.-China Green Fund.

Ms. Sun also has broad experience in the consulting field in China. She is a Founding Partner and the President for China of Basilinna LLC, a strategic business consulting firm headquartered in Washington DC. Prior to that, she also worked as a Senior Counsel at Ogilvy Public Relations China. She served as Executive Vice President of Sierra Asia, an Advisory firm based in Beijing, Shanghai and Washington DC.

Ms. Sun was also a Managing Director for China with Albright Stonebridge International, a consulting firm headed by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former U.S. National Security Advisor Sandy Berger. During her time at Stonebridge, she served as the China Representative to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and represented major U.S., European and Chinese firms in the market. She also worked for MBP Consulting, the Asia consulting practice of Mayer, Brown, a top 10 law firm based in Chicago, founded by Ambassador Mickey Kantor.

Gracie Sun has represented and advised multinational corporations on government strategy, market access, communication strategy, crisis management, intellectual property, and investment issues in China, serving in wide range of industries including Pharmaceutical, Telecommunication, Media and Entertainment, Mining, Agriculture, Banking and Financial Organizations.

Gracie often speaks and writes about green finance and other issues in the U.S.-China bilateral relationship. She has an MBA and lives and works in Shanghai.

Judy serves as Vice President of Corporate Affairs of PepsiCo, responsible for the Company’s Government Affairs and Public Policy, Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility in the Greater China Region (GCR). She is on the Leadership Team of PepsiCo GCR as well as global Corporate Affairs.

Prior to PepsiCo, Judy was Vice President of Public Affairs for Greater China Area of 3M, responsible for developing the Company’s strategic partnership with Chinese government, industry associations and NGOs. Prior to 3M, Judy was Vice President of Public Affairs of Mars Incorporated in China, leading the Company’s One Mars PA strategy to enhance company reputation among government and industry.

Judy was also Director of External Affairs of Colgate Palmolive China, in charge of the company’s government, media, consumer relations, and earlier on, Judy was with Procter & Gamble China, managing the company’s external relations with key stakeholders.

Judy started her career in the foreign affairs sector of Chinese central government, promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and the European countries.

Judy studied and worked in Europe and North America and has gained rich experience in decades of service in public and private sectors. She has played a critical role in facilitating the China visit of companies’ global executives, enhancing understanding of Chinese government and public policies, and establishing public private partnerships for these MNCs with Chinese government and industry with strategic plans and win-win outcomes.
Judy is a core member of AmCham China and US China Business Council, meanwhile is passionate with philanthropy and corporate social responsibility, she is a leading member in China of PepsiCo Foundation and a Council member of China Woman Development Foundation.
