Antony Cook is Microsoft’s Regional Vice President and Chief Legal Counsel for Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) for Asia. Antony leads a multi-disciplinary team of 110 professionals that are responsible for providing legal and compliance support to business groups operating in the region; industry, community and government affairs counsel to Microsoft’s in-country operations; and support for digital security, intellectual property and data protection issues.

Antony joined Microsoft in 2002 in Sydney leading the legal support for Microsoft’s businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Antony moved to Singapore in early 2006, initially working as the Regional Director for Public Sector support in Asia Pacific before taking responsibility for the CELA team for Microsoft’s businesses in South East Asia in July 2007. Antony moved to Istanbul in December 2010 to build and manage the CELA team in the Middle East and Africa and held that position until 1 August 2017 when he returned to Singapore and his current role.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Antony had responsibility for business development and corporate functions across Asia and Europe as Head of Business Affairs for BT LookSmart. Antony also worked for four years with the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a Senior Associate in their Hong Kong office specializing in telecom and IT transactions across Asia. Antony started his career at Moore & Bevins (now K&L Gates) a Sydney based full service commercial law firm.

Antony is Vice President of the Singapore Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of the National Association for APEC, a Director on the Board of the Singapore International Mediation Center and a member of the Singapore Management University School of Law and Technology Advisory Council.

Antony graduated from the University of New South Wales in Sydney with a Bachelor of Commerce (with commendation) and a Bachelor of Laws. Antony is admitted as a Solicitor to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia.

Michael Zhu is Global Vice President and Managing Director of China for Hewlett Packard Enterprise. In this role, Michael leads the HPE country management teams, representing HPE’s China entities with overall responsibility of country P&L.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Zhu served as Vice President of Product Marketing at Western Digital China leading the strategy and execution of its regional business functions of product marketing and Go-to- market operations. At Western Digital, he also served as Global Vice President of Joint Venture Operations overseeing its China joint venture strategy and operations.

Before Western Digital, Mr. Zhu held various global leadership roles over a decade at HPE, HP, and 3Com leading global product management teams, managing corporate strategic alliances and industry ecosystems. His global corporate experiences also include driving M&A and start-up investment initiatives for corporate development and managing post joint venture Go-to-market integrations.

Michael brings a unique blend of cross border cultural understanding and global leadership experiences in US, China and Japan, with a strong track record of formulating win-win partnerships and driving business growth. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Beihang University in China and earned an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University in the US.

Dr. Jian Lu joined LinkedIn China as President in April 2018, leading the R&D of products and technologies in the China market and overseeing LinkedIn’s business in China. Dr. Jian Lu has over 20 years of experience in leading product and technology innovations in Silicon Valley and China. He is also an inspirational team leader, a renowned technologist and an experienced entrepreneur.

Prior to LinkedIn, Dr. Jian Lu was the partner of Hujiang and CEO of CCtalk. He led the launching of commercial operations of CCtalk, turning an online teaching tool into an educational platform, and drove fast growth of the iTeacher community and Hujiang's platform business.

Dr. Jian Lu joined Apple in 1996. First as Senior Scientist at the Interactive Media Group and then Lead Principal Engineer of ProVideo Engineering, he led the design and development of the image & video compression, multimedia interaction and other technologies in the large cross-platform multimedia software QuickTime. He was also in the engineering team that developed and delivered Apple’s first streaming media product QuickTime Streaming. He also led and coordinated Apple’s participation and contribution to the development of international standards including JPEG-2000 and MPEG-4. In 2006, Dr. Lu founded Vobile (03738.HK) and took the role as CTO, where he invented the VDNA® (VideoDNA) technology in video content fingerprinting and identification. Then in 2010, he was invited by the founder of Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited to go back and work in China. He was VP of Shanda Interactive Entertainment, Managing Director of Shanda Innovations and CTO of Ku6.com, a Shanda subsidiary. During his tenure at Shanda, he established the Shanda Innovation, Beijing from scratch and directly led the Shanda Innovation Multimedia team. In 2014, Dr. Lu became CTO of 360 Video and General Manager of 360 Live Video Cloud, where he managed the development of 360 video technology and founded the 360 Live Video Cloud platform and team that supports a range of live video products.

Dr. Jian Lu holds his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang University and his master and doctor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from China Academy of Railway Science and Dartmouth College, respectively. He also finished his postdoc study at the Computer Department of Dartmouth College and the Image Analysis Research Center of UC Daivis.

Jimmy Goodrich is vice president for global policy at SIA. In this role, Jimmy leads SIA’s global policy team and works to advance SIA’s international and trade policy agenda to ensure the U.S. semiconductor industry maintains its competitiveness in key markets across the globe. Jimmy also leads SIA’s research and analysis of foreign semiconductor policies and capabilities. Jimmy is the Executive Committee Chair of the United States Information Technology Office (USITO) in Beijing, representing SIA in his capacity. An expert in China’s technology and innovation landscape, he has led and conducted significant research and analysis efforts into China’s technology and innovation capabilities.

Before joining SIA, Jimmy was director of global policy at the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) in Washington D.C., where he led ITI’s China and Asia-Pacific technology policy issues relating to cybersecurity, trade, standards, and Internet governance. Prior to ITI, he worked for Cisco Systems in Beijing as director for Greater China government affairs, where he was responsible for managing the cybersecurity and technical standards portfolio. Before joining Cisco, Jimmy was a consultant at APCO Worldwide’s Beijing office, a public affairs consultancy, where he advised multinational tech firms on China’s cybersecurity and technology policy landscape. He also worked as a policy manager at USITO’s Beijing office, which represents U.S. information technology firms in China on issues ranging from cybersecurity, technical standards, to telecommunications policy.

Jimmy has a bachelor’s degree in comparative politics and East Asian studies from Ohio University. He is fluent in Mandarin.

Alan Beebe is President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China based in Beijing. He has over twenty-five years of business experience in Asia, including seventeen years in mainland China.

As President, Alan oversees all advocacy, programs, partnerships and insights provided by the Chamber to support the business growth of nearly 900 foreign corporations operating in China, including most of the U.S. Fortune 500. He leads major advocacy initiatives related to trade tariffs, market access, cybersecurity, Made in China 2025, China’s NGO law and structural imbalances in U.S. – China trade and investment.

In 2018, he launched AmCham China’s Technology & Innovation Initiative, focused on the business and policy implications of disruptive digital technologies - such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and cloud computing – for U.S. companies in China.

Prior to joining AmCham China, Alan held various senior executive positions in China with EY, IBM, and management consulting firms AT Kearney and PRTM. He also led a Beijing based start-up for five years, the China Greentech Initiative, which merged in 2014 with the Paulson Institute, founded by Hank Paulson.

Alan has advised a wide range of corporations and global investors on investing and operating in China. His clients have included global private equity firms, high technology companies, energy related companies, and major state-owned and private Chinese enterprises.

He holds a Master’s degree from Yale University in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the U.S. He is a Board of Advisor of the Yale Club of Beijing and in that capacity promotes academic and cultural exchanges between the U.S. and China. He is a fluent speaker of mandarin Chinese, and reads and writes Chinese. Alan was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska.

Joe Bao serves as Vice President of Microsoft Greater China Region, and General Manager for One Commercial Partner & Strategic Pursuit. In this role, he is responsible for developing long-term competitive strategies for Microsoft GCR and leading sales, marketing, client services and other groups to help commercial customers, partners, developers, consumers and communities successfully seize the opportunities of digital transformation.

Joe leads a diverse team of over 600 professionals engaged in helping partners achieve innovation and transformation with the Microsoft Intelligent Cloud, which is comprised of the Microsoft Azure platform for intelligent apps and infrastructure, Microsoft 365 for productivity and Microsoft Dynamics 365 for business process and intelligence. Together with Microsoft development tools and platform services, Joe’s team is helping partners and developers in GCR transform their technical capabilities and business models, and develop their own innovations and independent intellectual property. At the same time, the team engages Microsoft's global ecosystem and market advantages to promote Chinese enterprises, partners and developers, helping them expand their international horizons and extend China's innovative technologies and solutions to a broader global market. Under Joe’s leadership, the team also supports the development of SMB partners in the GCR ecosystem with technology, marketing, and capital resources.

Joe Bao has been with Microsoft for more than 13 years. Prior to his current role, he formulated and implemented product strategies for developing markets in the Windows Product Group at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, as well as serving as Chief of Staff for the Chairman and CEO of Microsoft Greater China Region. With Microsoft, he has travelled to over 30 countries and has a deep understanding and experience regarding the company’s growth strategy, customer relationships and technical practices in markets around the world.

Joe has been recognized for his professional performance and achievements within Microsoft, winning the Circle of Excellence Platinum Award in 2012 -- the highest level of honor that Microsoft employees worldwide can receive. He is enthusiastic about public welfare, serving for several non-profit organizations specializing in rural education.

Joe received his B.A. in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin, along with minors in Computer Sciences and Finance. He currently resides in Beijing, China.

Young joined Intel in 2006 as an open source software strategist before holding a number of management positions leading effective product marketing and sales strategies. He also served as technical assistant and chief of staff to Tom Kilroy, executive vice president and general manager of Intel’s Sales and Marketing Group. While working in China, Young was the managing director of China Tech Ecosystem (CTE) Sales and China Product Marketing Group. He led Intel’s overall product marketing in China as well as sales, customer, and go-to-market strategies in the CTE. During his tenure as managing director, the CTE sales team received the company’s highest honor, the Intel Achievement Award.

Prior to joining Intel, he spent 5 years developing core product features and strategic marketing in various software engineering positions at Curl Corporation and ShoppingList.com.

Her responsibilities include managing the portfolio of JLABS in the region and collaborating with its internal and external business partners across multiple sectors to implement educational programming and drive high-quality company sourcing from innovation hotspots across Asia Pacific. In 2020, Sharon was recognized by Forbes China as one of the 50 Top Women in Tech.

Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Sharon was Head of Asia at Aeras, where she established its Beijing office for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and focused on tuberculosis (TB) vaccines. She had previously served as a member of the Senior Leadership team for Baxter in Shanghai with responsibility for providing strategic direction and making deals to add to Baxter’s top line growth. She began her career working in Business Development for Sosei Heptares, a Japanese start-up turned international biopharma focused on CNS, immuno-oncology, gastroenterology, inflammation and other rare/specialty indications, based in London.

Sharon also holds prominent leadership appointments as a board member of Right 2 Thrive, focused on breaking the cycle of poverty in Kenya, and as a committee member of the China-Oxford Scholarship Fund in Shanghai and Beijing. He is also the founder and CEO of Deep Longevity, Inc, a global company developing a broad range of artificial intelligence-based biomarkers of aging and longevity. Since 2015 he invented critical technologies in the field of generative adversarial networks (GANs) and reinforcement learning (RL) for generation of the novel molecular structures with the desired properties and generation of synthetic biological and patient data. He also pioneered the applications of deep learning technologies for prediction of human biological age using multiple data types, transfer learning from aging into disease, target identification, and signaling pathway modeling. Under his leadership, Insilico raised over $50 million in multiple rounds from expert investors, opened R&D centers in 6 countries and regions, and partnered with multiple pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic institutions. Prior to founding Insilico, he worked in senior roles at ATI Technologies (acquired by AMD in 2006), NeuroG Neuroinformatics, Biogerontology Research Foundation. Oliver Jones is the co-founder and Chief Executive of Chayora.

Oliver originally qualified as a chartered surveyor after graduating from Kingston in 1983 and after completing his MBA at London Business School in the late 1980s, specialised in corporate finance and the fast-growing management areas of property and business services outsourcing.

Oliver specifically focuses on complex outsourcing transactions and property operating related investment deals. His experience in public partnerships has its roots in the UK in the 1990s when market testing and PFI models were developed. From 2007-2012, Alex was the Partner and Regional Leader of KPMG’s International Trade & Customs Practice in Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Alex has over 20 years of experience in global value chains, business and international trade - both as an academic and a professional consultant. He has advised clients on cross-border projects in more than 40 countries and he has worked in some of the most challenging regulatory environments in the world.

He advises governments and businesses on matters involving “upskilling” and developing human capital. Some areas of focus include mobile financial services, peer-to-peer lending scenarios, AI and e-commerce strategies.

Alex has been a panelist and workshop leader for the World Economic Forum. Prof. Jielin Dong is a part-time research fellow of the China Institute for Science and Technology Policy at Tsinghua University. Her current research focus is on innovation and entreprenurship. She also serves as a board member for multiple technological companies in China, and a columnist for a few international journals.

Prof. Dong was a distinguished professor of Soochow University, and the director of the Center for Enterprise Innovation and Development of Dongwu Business School of Soochow University. Through her career, she has worked in various management positions in Fortune 500 companies such as Lucent and Cisco, as well as successful startup companies such as AsiaInfo Inc., which has built the Internet infrastructure in China.

Dr. Dong was educated in both China and the US. She finished her Ph.D. degree in physics in Carnegie Mellon University in 1988.

Prior to joining Bain in 2004, Velu gained more than 15 years of experience in the technology and telecommunications fields in R&D, line/management, consulting and entrepreneurial roles.

He has served in engineering, product management, marketing and executive capacities for government agencies, systems manufacturers and service providers. These efforts have included wired/wireless/optical networking equipment, systems software, industrial control/automation systems, machine learning solutions, autonomous control systems and ASIC/SoC designs.

Velu's consulting experience covers growth, innovation and R&D strategies, reengineering and merger integration across industries including technology, media, upstream oil & gas and pharmaceuticals; as well as sector scans, diligence activities and portfolio work for private equity. He has worked with clients around the globe and has experience in dealing with international intellectual property, standards and regulatory issues.
