China has in recent years progressively encouraged the use of the RMB as one of the key international currencies and the establishment of RMB onshore and offshore channels.
AmCham China's Financial Services Forum will host a presentation with Anthony Lin, managing director and head of transaction banking at Standard Chartered Bank (China), on the internationalization of the RMB and the impact on cross-border settlement. Lin will introduce China's progressive measures to increase the use of the RMB in cross-border transactions, present the regulatory framework, infrastructure and services currently available in the market, discuss the advantages of adapting to the internationalization of RMB, and assess its prospects and the implications for the global financial system.
