*Have you struggled over the decision to move your family to another country where they will be far from family, friends and cultural traditions?
* Are you sometimes surprised at your child's behavior and way of thinking?
* Have your children deviated from the cultural norms of your heritage and passport country?
* Are your children having difficulty adjusting to the new city, country and/or school? Do they feel and act strangely when you go "home" for a visit?

AmCham China, IsCham and SingCham invite you to a presentation on how life in a foreign country impacts a child's character and behavior with Dr. Ettie Zilber, head of the Beijing BISS International School. Dr. Zilber will offer strategies for mitigating some of the challenges of relocating a family abroad, while also discussing the benefits that "cross-cultural kids" offer as adult professionals.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Zilber has had a long career outside the USA, serving as an educator and educational leader in international schools in Israel, Guatemala, Spain, Singapore and, now, China. She is familiar with the issues and needs of students and cross-cultural families from a personal and professional lens, as she has raised three children cross-culturally and internationally and has educated thousands of others. Her doctoral research was dedicated to this topic and resulted in the publication of a book, "Third Culture Kids: The Children of International School Educators". Since her arrival in Beijing in August, 2009, she has enjoyed sharing her knowledge and experience with the expatriate and international school communities.
