China’s Approval Process for Inbound Foreign Direct Investment (Members Only)
Please join us for a members-only presentation and panel discussion on a new groundbreaking report published by the US Chamber of Commerce on China's approval process for inbound foreign direct investment and its impact on market access, national treatment, and transparency. The report was based upon research conducted by Covington & Burling at the request of the US Chamber and includes input from AmCham China member companies.
Tim Stratford, partner at Covington & Burling, will give a presentation on the report's findings and what they mean for investors and for the US government as it discusses issues related to market access, national treatment, and transparency with the Chinese government, including through bilateral investment treaty (BIT) negotiations. After this presentation, a panel of industry and investment experts will discuss the report and provide their own on-the-ground insights on the investment approval process. Panelists will include investment expert Greg Gilligan, managing director at APCO Worldwide; industry representative Li Jianbo, executive director at JP Morgan, and macroeconomic expert Patrick Chovanec, associate professor at Tsinghua University.
