ICT Breakfast Series: “High-speed Wireless Technologies and High-stake Spectrum Policies”
AmCham China's Information Communications Technology (ICT) Forum and the US Information Technology Office (USITO) are pleased to invite you to the next briefing in their ongoing breakfast series, this time featuring Dr. Amer Hassan, principal architect, Windows group, Microsoft.
As mobile communications have exploded in popularity, demand has surged for radio spectrum, a finite resource. Amid rapidly rising wireless data and video traffic, there is a global race to improve radio performance and maximize efficiency within the available spectrum.
Dr. Hassan will address these issues, drawing on his experience with industry alliances focused on high-speed wireless technology and his familiarity with regulators such as the FCC in the US and OFCOM in the UK. He will discuss the evolution of high-speed wireless technologies in various spectrum bands, including advances in the 60GHz band, the new world of ultra-low power devices, the rise of White Spaces technologies in low-frequency bands for robust broadband coverage and low-rate vertical market applications. He will also share his views on the interplay between spectrum management/regulation and technology innovation and adoption, with reference to dynamic spectrum access technologies and policy frameworks.
Dr. Hassan will also be speaking on behalf of the WiFi Alliance at the Wireless China Industry Summit event held in Beijing, Sept. 5-6.
