    Managing Director, Asian Agribusiness Consulting (AAC)

    Since 1988 Michael has worked in the intensive livestock firstly with PIC, in Australia, the Philippines and China and then as Alltech Biotechnology’s North Asia Manager from 2000. In 1998 Michael joined PIC in China to establish their pig breeding business, since that time Michael has been deeply involved and reported on China’s pig industry.

    In 2007 Michael founded Asian Agribusiness Consulting (AAC) and Asian Agribusiness Recruitment, Training and Development (AARTD). AAC is a boutique advisory business specializing in the livestock, feed, animal health industries across China and Asia. AAC advises clients on market access, strategy and human resources and over the past 12 years AAC have produced over 300 market research reports.

    Michael graduated from Roseworthy Agricultural College with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and he has Master of Business Administration from the University of New England. Michael has lived in China since 1998 and has been one of AmCham’s Agricultural Forum’s Co-Chairs for the past 10 years.

    Mr. Haggard joined USMEF in 1988 as a regional marketing consultant and later became director of the USMEF-Hong Kong office when that office opened in 1989. Joel Haggard returned to the Asia-Pacific to serve as vice president-Asia Pacific for the U.S. Meat Export Federation in March 1994, after several years in the USMEF-Denver office. Stationed in the USMEF-Hong Kong office, Mr. Haggard oversees USMEF market development strategies and programs for U.S. red meat products in the region. Before joining USMEF, Mr. Haggard worked for the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service for five years. During that time, he served as the agricultural trade officer for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China, where he supervised all marketing activities involving U.S. agricultural trade with the People's Republic of China. Prior to that, Mr. Haggard worked as grain analyst for USDA's Foreign Agriculture Service in Washington, D.C., analyzing and forecasting international trade patterns. Mr. Haggard has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Economy of Natural Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Wisconsin. He speaks Mandarin Chinese.

    Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Brf Greater China

    Dr. Juhui Huang is Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Greater China for BRF since Jan 2017. In this role, he serves as BRF’s principal liaison with the Chinese government, industry associations and state-owned companies. He is based in Beijing.

    Dr. Huang began his career in China’s Ministry of Agriculture in 1994 before accepting senior government affairs and business development positions in the private sector. Prior to joining BRF, he served as senior director and chief representative of ADM Beijing Representative Office. He also served as vice president of government affairs for the Pharmaceutical Industry Association Committee, and director of government affairs and business development for Cargill.
    Dr. Huang is a business leader and government relations veteran with over 20 years’ experience in agriculture, food and life science industries. He is a frequent speaker in high profile conferences including the JCCT US-China Agriculture and Food Conference, the China Food Security & Safety Strategy Summit, and the Government Relations Summit of Conference Board.

    He is a co-chair of the Agricultural Forum of AmCham China and a founder of US-China Agriculture and Food Partnership (AFP). He serves as a non-executive director of the board of COFCO Meat Holding Limited (HK.01610) since Dec 2017. He holds a doctorate in agronomy from China Agricultural University.

    Country Director, US Grains Council Beijing Office

    Bryan Lohmar has over 20 years of experience working on agricultural and economic issues in China. In April, 2012, Bryan became Country Director for the US Grains Council (USGC), China, where he has developed and manages a broad program including technical assistance to the feed and livestock industry, supporting traders with information and registration services, and engaging in policy dialogue. Prior to joining the USGC, Bryan was Director for Economic Research, Bunge China, where he was responsible for coordinating the internal supply, demand, and trade estimates for grains, oilseeds, and sugar for China. Before joining Bunge, Bryan served as an Economist at U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, where he specialized in China issues, and also served as an Adjunct Professor of Econometrics at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC. Bryan’s research covers a wide variety of topics related to China’s agricultural and food markets including land tenure, farm labor allocation, grain marketing policy, water scarcity, trade liberalization, food safety, urban food consumption issues, and livestock production issues. His research is published in academic journals, USDA reports, book chapters and other publications, and has been presented at numerous academic and professional conferences in the United States, China, and other countries. In 2016, the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association honored Bryan with its annual Quality of Communication award for a recent publication.
    Bryan grew up in Minnesota, has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota (with a Minor in Chinese) and a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Davis.

    Minister Counselor for Agricultural Affairs, U.S. Embassy - Beijing

    Mr. Bobby Richey assumed the role of Minister Counselor for Agricultural Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China on July 23, 2018. Prior to arriving in China, Bobby was the Acting Associate Administrator of the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. He was also the Director General of the Foreign Service for FAS with responsibility for managing the FAS’s Foreign Service Corps of 130 officers, mentoring 30 Foreign Service trainees, and overseeing about 350 foreign nationals working in FAS’s 93 offices around the world. He joined FAS in 1986. Bobby has served at the U.S. Mission to the European Union, and in the U.S. Embassies in Mexico City, Berlin and Bangkok. When he served as Counselor for Agricultural Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, he covered USDA’s interests not only in Thailand, but also Burma and Laos. Over his career, he has worked on a breadth of issues ranging from international food and health regulations to global food security.
    Bobby earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics from Texas Tech University in 1984 and a Master of Science degree in economics from Iowa State University in 1986. He grew up on his family’s cotton farm near Lubbock, Texas. He currently has the rank of Career Minister Counselor in the Foreign Service of the United States. He is married with no children.
