Global trade has entered a period of renewed turbulence. On April 2, President Donald Trump announced a "Liberation Day" initiative that imposes a blanket 10% tariff on all imports and raises tariffs on Chinese imports by an additional 34%, bringing the total to 54%. In response, China has implemented reciprocal 34% tariffs on US goods. These sweeping measures have intensified concerns among our member companies about the trajectory of US-China relations and the future of bilateral economic engagement.
Join us for this exclusive Policy+ briefing with Timothy Stratford, senior counsel of Covington & Burling LLP, three-time AmCham China Chair, and former assistant USTR, as he unpacks the motivations behind current US trade policy, outlines what to expect in the months ahead, and analyzes the implications for cross-border trade and investment.
This session will be conducted in English.
