US-China Bilateral Investment Treaty Negotiations: Opportunity for Your Company?
AmCham China is pleased to host Tim Stratford, Chairman of the AmCham China BIT Task Force and former Assistant US Trade Representative, for a presentation on the US-China BIT. The US and China continue to make progress on the BIT negotiations and exchanged "Negative Lists" during the most recent round of negotiations in mid-June. The BIT was also a key topic in the most recent session of the US and China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED). Tim Stratford will provide an overview of the issues typically addressed in a BIT and recommend actions companies can take to help ensure that issues important to them are addressed during the negotiations. He will also share results of a major study Covington recently completed for the European Commission that analyzes whether keeping an industry off of the negative list is enough to ensure market access in China.
The first Covington report prepared for the European Commission Directorate-General for Trade may be found below.
Lunch will be provided.
