Event Details

Last December marked the 40th anniversary of the launch of China's "Reform and Opening Up" policy. Since 1978, the push for market-oriented reforms has facilitated the transformation of China's economy into the second largest in the world. However, the ongoing trade tensions with the US highlight a spectrum of concerns that remain over market access and structural issues that continue to challenge foreign businesses operating in China.

One important aspect of the ongoing reform process has been the development and expansion of pilot free trade zones (FTZs) in China, which serve as testing grounds for future nationwide reforms. The Chinese government recently declared the entire Hainan island as an FTZ, expanded the Shanghai Pilot FTZ, and established six more FTZs across China.

AmCham China is pleased to invite all members to attend an event examining the role that theseFTZ developmentswill play in China's continued efforts to "Reform and Open." The event will be held on September 17, 2019 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at the Hilton Beijing Signature Ballroom B.

Expert panelists will explore questions such as: what is the current state of China's investment environment? Will the FTZs continue to serve as experimental zones for nationwide reforms? How can the foreign business community take advantage of the recent FTZ developments?

The event is off-the-record. To register, please purchase your ticket(s) by clicking "register" before 3:00 pm on September 12, 2019. Please note that we will NOT accept any walk-ins or on-site payments for this event. For any questions, please contact Chloe Ma at cma@amchamchina.org.
