On the morning of October 16, 2022, President Xi Jinping delivered a report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, laying out China's development for the next five years and beyond. At the same time, as we approach the start of the fourth year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese government is continuously refining its pandemic control policies in an attempt to accelerate economic recovery, restore normal production and social order, and promote the construction of the domestic-international dual-circulation economic system.

Professor Hofman is a leading economist with extensive experiences in China, and have served as Country Director of World Bank China, Chief Economist of the East Asia and Pacific Region of the World Bank, and the Director of East Asian Institute of NUS.
