Come and join us for our Sports Committee Happy Hour on Oct 28 at Bistro 108 in Beijing!


The Sports Committee is very important to AmCham China, with sports vital as a bridge to link not just different people from different backgrounds, but also the US and China as a whole. The Sports Committee aims to foster an open environment for healthy discussion about China's sports industry, focus on issues and opportunities for companies within the industry, and provide networking and community building opportunities for members through the watching and playing of various sports throughout the year.


All members are welcome to attend this mixer and every attendee will receive gifts from NBA and MLB! We will also host a quiz, complete with various prizes.

    Tony Qi

    Managing Director of MLB China at MLB China

    Tony Qi, Managing Director of MLB China, oversees MLB's overall business in the region, including media partnerships, strategic investment, content production, business development, and youth tournaments, etc., to increase the awareness and participation of MLB and baseball.

    Tony led the comprehensive implementation of MLB's media rights in the region, landing broadcasting deals with Tencent Sports, Tencent Video and BesTV. Created and expanded MLB’s original content, CSR events and crossover marketing campaigns to promote baseball sports and baseball culture.

    Tony also led the partnership with China Baseball Association to support China Baseball Team, initiated "MLB First Pitch" in elementary school campus, built a complete baseball teaching ecology with students as the core, greatly increasing the popularity and awareness of baseball in the region. In the past two years, MLB has cooperated with film festival and e-sports platforms, participated actively in major sports industry forums and summits, achieving diversified cooperation and innovation in brand marketing.

    Tony has worked in global media sector for nearly 20 years, with expertise in media content production, distribution, investment, strategy, and business development.

    As SVP of Asia Pacific at Fox Networks Group, Tony facilitated and led the cooperation of content and distribution with dozens of partners, including CCTV, Tencent, China Intercontinental Communication Center, SMG, and Alibaba, which efficiently increased the businesses of Fox and National Geographic in China.

    When with Fox Networks Group, Tony planned and facilitated the broadcast of the prime-time documentary series “China Revealed” on the National Geographic channel in over 170 countries and regions and in charge of managing the merchandising rights for National Geographic partners.
