The Board holds a pivotal role by guiding the operations of the Chamber and ensuring AmCham China's actions are in line with our members' needs for advocacy, information, business development, and professional growth.


This year is our most competitive board election in recent memory; 22 candidates are running for 14 seats.     Jon Christianson

    Co-founder, 3QU Media

    Jon Christianson is the co-founder of 3QU Media, a start-up that produces family friendly, feature length, animated movies for global audiences. It will be releasing its first two movies in theaters around the world early next year. Until earlier this year, he had been a senior partner in the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

    He was named by the American Lawyer in 2006 as a “Deal Maker of the Year” for his work on bringing the first of China’s large state-owned banks to the global markets. Mr. Christianson also worked on such landmark transactions as the first listing in 1991 of B Shares in China, the first listing in 1993 of a Chinese Company on the New York Stock Exchange, in 1994 China’s first sovereign debt offering into the US public capital markets since 1949 and in 2006 China’s sovereign wealth fund in its first overseas investment. He has been actively involved in outbound and inbound M&A, joint ventures and financing transactions involving China and other Asian countries since the late 1980s.

    He and his wife, Wei, have lived in Beijing since 1999 where they have raised their three sons. He holds a B.S. in engineering and J.D. and M.B.A degrees.

    General Manager and Partner, ADG

    Chris DeAngelis is a Partner and General Manager of Alliance Development Group (ADG) based in Beijing. Been leading ADG China team since 2009, Chris has overseen the successful execution of over hundreds of partnerships between Chinese companies and leading western technologies. With years of experiences in the China market execution, Chris is an expert on the Chinese technology scene and emerging trends.

    Prior to joining ADG, Chris was a Vice President at GE Capital where he underwrote over US$1 billion in transactions supporting U.S. and cross-border leveraged buyouts on behalf of global private equity funds. He holds a Bachelor in Accounting from Lehigh University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Chris is also on the board of advisors for AmCham China Technology and Innovation Initiative.

    Vice President; Greater China Managing Director, PGA TOUR

    Greg Gilligan joined the PGA TOUR in late 2013 as Vice President and is the lead executive in China serving as PGA TOUR China Managing Director. Currently Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Gilligan served in an elected capacity as Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, as an officer for four consecutive terms from 2011 – 2014.

    Prior to the PGA TOUR Mr. Gilligan was the Managing Director of APCO Worldwide’s Beijing office. He joined APCO after serving as General Manager of Corporate Affairs for McDonald’s (China) Co., Ltd., where he developed and executed strategies to enhance McDonald's brand and corporate image among China’s regulatory bodies, consumers and other key stakeholders. Prior to that role he served as McDonald’s China’s General Manager for Southeast China.

    Mr. Gilligan holds a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; a Master of Arts in Asian Studies and Juris Doctor degrees from Washington University in St. Louis; and a Bachelor of Arts in history from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He has been a member of the Missouri Bar Association since 1995.

    With more than twenty-one years in China, Mr. Gilligan is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

    Su Cheng Harris Simpson is a current member of AmCham China’s Board of Governors, and is the Founder and CEO of SCHSAsia with over 20 years of experience in China. Su Cheng has been actively involved in the Beijing business community, managing projects and serving the needs for a number of destinations, not-for-profit organizations, community organizations, and bilateral associations in the areas of strategic event management, fundraising, public and media relations, promotion and marketing.

    Before becoming an entrepreneur she was engaged in the corporate arena and held management positions at The Boeing Company, United Technologies Corporation, and The Capital Club in Beijing.

    At United Technologies Corporation in China, Su Cheng was as the Corporate Projects Manager supporting the Operating Divisions, Corporate Headquarters and UTIO China in matters of internal coordination, quality improvement processes and overall China strategies. Prior to that role, Su Cheng was the Marketing Director for The Capital Club in Beijing managing a budget of over $1 million U.S. dollars where she developed and implemented marketing strategies and club activities while providing leadership, training, and guidance to her team. As a Buyer and Requirements Specialist for The Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington, Su Cheng negotiated supplier contracts, worked as a vendor liaison, and formulated administrative procedures for the departments.

    Su Cheng has a MBA with emphasis in Marketing and International Business from Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, WA and a BA from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA in 1989. Since moving to China in 1996, Su Cheng has forged relationships with the American, British, Japanese and Australian Chambers of Commerce, the U.S.-China Business Council, the U.S. Embassy and a range of Beijing civic groups. An active member of the community, Su Cheng served on the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham) for three years, and served as Vice Chair in 2002 and 2003. She currently serves as Co-Chair of AmCham China Women’s Professional Committee; Advisory Board Member of Dell Women Entrepreneur’s Network and the Beijing Chapter President of The University of Washington Alumni Association in China.

    Eric Hirsch is a Executive Director for Jones Lang LaSalle, a Fortune 500 professional commercial property services company with more than 14,000 employees in 14 offices across China. Based in Beijing, Eric leads business strategy and development for the Beijing office market, driving international best practices for the firm which he also serves as a member of the Regional Tenant Representation Board. After more than a decade in the capital, Eric is widely regarded as a leading expert in the field and is frequently sought by industry leaders and the media to comment on the latest market movements and trends. As an industry leader, he continues to be instrumental in building up the firm’s growth in Beijing and throughout China.

    An advocate of peer-to-peer learning, Eric is a strong believer is giving back to the business community and taking an active role in AmCham China is a key way to achieve this. His involvement with AmCham China spans his lengthy and distinguished career in Beijing, where he has led several pioneering initiatives such as the founding of the Real Estate Forum, which he continues to chair. His views have appeared in numerous industry publications, including Business Now, and he is regularly called upon to moderate and speak at various events, including AmCham China functions. Strongly committed to further AmCham China’s visibility, Eric engages colleagues to be actively involved in forums and committees, such as the Young Professional Committee. He is also active with a number of non-profit organizations and sits on the board of a Beijing-based charity.

    Moving forward, if elected, he will work to continue encouraging more involvement from members in order for AmCham China to continue being the voice of the American business community, especially those from SME’s and our other chapters in China.

    Global Executive Vice President and President of Greater China, Dell Technologies

    Dr. Chenhong Huang is the Global Executive Vice President and President, Greater China of Dell Technologies, with responsibility for the organization’s overall strategy and business in its largest market outside the United States.

    Dr. Huang joined Dell in 2014, serving as Senior Vice President, Dell and President, Dell Greater China. In 2015, he created and launched the “In China, For China” Dell China 4.0 Strategy, a bold and progressive plan to drive Dell’s continuous growth and leadership position in the IT industry; to establish Dell’s credentials as a trusted partner that empowers customers to succeed in the digital era; and to support the upgrade of China’s IT industry and the sustainable development of the country’s economy. The success of this strategy has been augmented with Dell’s recent establishment of four local ecosystems in Greater China, in Smart Manufacturing, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence and Hybrid Cloud.

    In December 2016, Dr. Huang was named Vice Chairman of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, a MOFCOM-affiliated organization. In 2018, he was awarded as honorary citizen of Xiamen by Xiamen municipal government. Dr. Huang has served as the Board of Governors for AmCham China since 2018.

    Prior to joining Dell, Dr. Huang served as Schneider Electric’s Global Senior Vice President and President, Greater China at APC for Schneider Electric. He was also the Chairman of Uniflair, a subsidiary of APC, and a member of the Board of Directors both at Schneider Great Engineering (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and at APC’s UPS Plant.

    Dr. Huang previously served as President and member of the Board of Directors at Tellabs China. He also worked for Nortel for 17 years, overseeing its business operations in China and holding numerous senior posts, including President of Nortel China, when he was responsible for sales to telecommunication operators.

    Dr. Huang earned his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1992. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Science and Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Fudan University in 1983 and 1986, respectively. Dr. Huang has published a number of academic papers and holds the ownership or co-ownership of 13 patents.

    China Chief Operating Officer, Morgan Stanley

    Mr. Huff is a Managing Director and Morgan Stanley’s Chief Operating Officer for China with responsibilities for Morgan Stanley China operations. He also serves on the Board of various Morgan Stanley entities and joint ventures.

    ​Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Huff was Vice President, Branded Attractions of NBA China where he was responsible for developing the NBA’s branded attractions business throughout mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. He also served as Associate Counsel of NBA China providing legal, regulatory, structuring and tactical advice with respect to general corporate affairs and strategic initiatives. Prior to joining NBA China, Mr. Huff worked as an Associate in the New York and Beijing offices of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

    China Country Counsel, Boeing Corporation

    Jeff Layman is China Country Counsel for the Boeing Corporation, where he is the primary attorney responsible for Boeing’s business operations in China, a position he has held since January 2018. Prior to joining Boeing, Jeff was a partner and chief representative of the Beijing office of an international law firm. He first arrived in China in 1991 as a “foreign expert” teaching at the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and has been actively involved in advising on China-related business transactions since he began practicing law in 1997.

    He currently serves as General Counsel to AmCham China. In 2017, AmCham China presented Jeff with its inaugural Chairman’s Award, recognizing him as “the Unsung Hero for his selfless contribution to the Chamber.” “As the General Counsel of the Chamber, Jeff really lives up to his reputation as a professional and dedicated person in his area,” said Chairman William Zarit, who presented the award. “We thank him for effectively tackling many of our thorniest challenges.”

    With over twenty years of experience, Jeff has represented a broad spectrum of multinational companies on investments in China. While in private practice his experience included representing sponsors and lenders in the development, construction and financing of infrastructure projects. Jeff routinely assists on joint ventures, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory matters. Chambers Asia has recognized Jeff as one of Asia’s leading business lawyers and describes him as “a conclusive choice for deals involving Chinese counterparties.”

    Jeff earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of Law and Bachelor of Arts from Claremont McKenna College. He studied Mandarin at the Universities of California, Berkeley and San Diego, Pomona College, Beijing Language and Culture University and Middlebury College.

    Colm received an MBA from the Yale School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from Brown University. He has served as Vice Chairman of Amcham China, is on the Yale University Asia Development Council, the Yale School of Management’s Greater China Advisory Board, and has served on the Executive Committee of the Beijing Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO).

    Tim Stratford is managing partner in the Beijing office of Covington & Burling LLP, an international law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. Mr. Stratford’s practice focuses on advising international clients doing business in China and assisting Chinese companies seeking to expand their businesses globally. As a former Assistant United States Trade Representative, Mr. Stratford is the most senior former U.S. official working as a member of the U.S. business community in China. Except for the five years he spent in Washington, D.C. in government service (2005 to 2010), Mr. Stratford has lived and worked continuously in the greater China region since 1982, including as Minister-Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the US embassy in Beijing and as general counsel for General Motors China operations. Mr. Stratford has also served as chairman of AmCham China (2000-01). He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Brigham Young University, and is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

    Mr. SHE Duanzhi joined Nike China in June 2015 as Vice President, Government and Public Affairs Greater China. In that role, Duanzhi manages Nike’s overall GPA portfolio in Greater China, including supporting the sales and commercial organization, advancing Nike’s trade agenda, protecting Nike’s assets and innovations, and enabling favorable tax and financial policies.

    Duanzhi started his career as a journalist in the 1980s with the State Administration of Foreign Languages Publishing and Distribution, under the State Council Information Office, covering current affairs and international news. He joined the private sector in 1998 as manager/director of Chinese Government Relations, the American Chamber of Commerce in China. Subsequently, he managed government and public affairs for several other major multinational companies and associations, including Airbus Industries China, United States Information Technology Office (USITO) Beijing, United Technologies Corporation, IBM and Royal Philips.

    Duanzhi holds a Master’s degree in communications from Illinois State University, an MBA from Fordham University in New York, and two bachelor’s degrees from Beijing University.

And, due to my strategic thinking and strength of utilizing holistic view to manage the function, Cummins leadership decided to expand my portfolio to further include Cummins China Strategy and Market Intelligence in 2015. My responsibility is to develop business strategy for Cummins China for growth, provide insights on China market to support Cummins top leadership for business decision, identify and establish the partnership with government agencies and all stakeholders, and contribute to a prosperous community through Corporate Responsibility to fulfill the sustainability.

    I was very honored to be elected to join Cummins Global Executive Development Program in 2016-2018 as the first female leader from Cummins China.

    I served as Governor at AmCham Board during 2013-2016 and was elected as Chair for Chinese Government Affairs Committee (CGAC) in 2009 and haven been actively leading various outreach for advocacy and also best practice sharing among member companies. I am passionate about Gender Diversity, environment and education program and have been devoting myself in these areas as volunteer. And, have been proactively engaging and contribution to the White Paper and public policy advocacy, including participation on AmCham Door Knocks in Washington DC in the past years.

    Albert Xie is Vice President, Public Policy and Government Relations at General Motors, China, with over 30-year working experience in the academia in China and foreign companies, and good understanding of the Chinese and Western cultures.

    Albert holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Beijing Aeronautical Institute, and a Master’s degree in business administration from the China Program of City University in Seattle, Washington.

    Before joining the corporate world, Albert had an 11-year career in the academia in China, teaching aviation engines and aircraft maintenance at the Civil Aviation University of China. Prior to General Motors, Albert worked for General Electric (GE) in China for 17 years, serving major leadership responsibilities covering sales and marketing, and government affairs, and most recently served as General Manager, China Government Affairs, GE Aviation.

    Albert joined General Motors (GM) China in February, 2014, as Vice President for Public Policy and Government Relations based in Beijing, responsible for building and maintaining GM's strong relationship with key government agencies, interpreting China's political environment to support management decisions, promoting GM's corporate image, and fostering strong relationships with GM's partners to enhance its government relations strategies.

    General Manager for Public and Government Affairs Dow Chemical, Greater China

    Gloria Xu is Public and Government Affairs General Manager, Greater China, the Dow Chemical Company, responsible for the company’s policy advocacy, government engagement, and strategic communications in the Greater China region. Prior to joining Dow, she led the China government affairs functions of DuPont and Standard Chartered Bank respectively for over 10 years with rich experiences in policy development and regulatory issues.

    Gloria was China Public Relations Manager of Alibaba.com Group and helped build up brand awareness of the company at its start-up stage at the beginning of this century.

    From 1993 to 2000, Gloria was a political correspondent with China Daily, covering legislative and foreign affairs, military, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan news.

    She is a board member of China American Chamber of Commerce and Deputy Secretary General of Multinational Companies Committee, China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation.

    Gloria graduated from Nanjing University with a BA in English Language and Literature.

    Vice President, Director, China Corporate Strategy Office, Intel Corporation

    Brent A. Young is vice president of Intel China and director of the China Corporate Strategy Office at Intel Corporation. He is responsible for defining and driving Intel’s China strategies including partnerships, business growth, and reputational strategies in China.

    Previously, Young was managing director of China Tech Ecosystem (CTE) Sales and China Product Marketing Group. He led Intel’s overall product marketing in China as well as sales, customer, and go-to-market strategies in the CTE. During his tenure as managing director, the CTE sales team received the company’s highest honor, the Intel Achievement Award, for quickly ramping the ecosystem and shaping the nature of the tablet market toward Intel.

    Young joined Intel in 2006 as an open source software strategist before holding a number of management positions leading effective product marketing and sales strategies. He also served as technical assistant and chief of staff to Tom Kilroy, executive vice president and general manager of Intel’s Sales and Marketing Group. Prior to joining Intel, he spent 5 years developing core product features and strategic marketing in various software engineering positions at Curl Corporation and ShoppingList.com.

    He is a member of Montage Technology Group Limited’s board of directors, an executive-in-residence at Tsinghua University’s X-labs incubator, and a mentor at Chinaccelerator.

    Young earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Computer Science from Cornell University and received an MBA specializing in Strategy, Marketing, and Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Attending an Event

Events have limited seating, so to ensure your attendance we encourage advance online registration and payment for ALL events. We cannot guarantee entry to anyone not registered in advance. Most of our events are in English and off the record, but please check the webpage for each event to avoid disappointment.


Receipts (fapiao) 


You can receive your fapiao when you arrive for an event provided that you buy an advance ticket and pay online at least 1 working day before the event and you provide the correct information for your fapiao at that time. You can leave details of the type of fapiao you need on the registration and payment page.


Event attendees can request a fapiao at the door or up to two months after the event. Requests made after that time will not be accommodated. Please contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.


Cancellation Policy

If you cannot attend an event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than one business day prior to the event. If you fail to notify AmCham China of your cancellation in a timely fashion, you will forfeit the fee you have already paid.


To cancel you can: 1) cancel directly online through the EventBank platform on which you registered or 2) contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.
