Since the first case of African Swine Flu (ASF) was reported in China on August 2, 2018, this epidemic and highly lethal disease has spread to all provinces in mainland China in the first 9 months. The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has reported 132 ASF cases in total by May 21, 2019. This disease has a significant impact not only on meat supply and demand balance in China, but also global meat and grain trade flow.

Join us to discuss the following:

  • How serious and severe are the effects of the ASF epidemic in China?
  • How has the Chinese government responded to this disease?
  • What can industry and companies do to mitigate risk?
  • How will the domestic meat supply and demand market be affected?
  • How will the international meat and grain trade flow affected by ASF?

JoinAmCham China's Agriculture Forum to learn more about this important topic.

The purpose of the Agriculture Forum is to establish a platform for members interested in agriculture to meet regularly to discuss industry issues, challenges, and opportunities. The Forum also helps facilitate cooperative relationships with Chinese organizations on food security, food safety, and agriculture productivity through bilateral dialogues and educational activities. The Agriculture Forum regularly holds meetings among members to share and update information in the industry and pays close attention to issues such as labor, land and water. Recently a number of Chinese officials were invited to a series of policy debriefing events to discuss china food security strategies and policies with Forum members.
