Marking 40 Years with Two American Stories in China
AmCham China draws its strength from its members and their personal experiences living and working in China. This year, two of our most outstanding members and volunteer leaders are transitioning from daily executive management to a more strategic role, and we are marking the occasion with a special dialogue.
๏ปฟRoberta Lipson and Tim Stratford have each spent more than 40 years of their careers dedicated to China and each has impacted countless people's careers and lives. AmCham China has also benefited greatly from their selfless service, with both of them serving on Committees and on our Board of Governors multiple times. Fellow AmCham China legend Jim McGregor will serve as moderator for this must-see discussion!
About the Speakers
Roberta Lipson
Since Roberta co-founded Chindex in 1981, the company has expanded from its business of capital medical equipment distribution to healthcare delivery. She is the creative force behind the United Family Healthcare brand, and its hospitals and clinics in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Bo'Ao. United Family is the first foreign invested and managed private healthcare group in China, which now operate under the corporate aegis of New Frontier Health (NFH). Roberta recently transitioned from CEO of NFH to Vice Chairman of the Board. Beyond her business, Roberta champions multiple good causes including chairing the Board of the United Foundation for Chinese health, being one of the co-founders of Kehilat Beijing, and a Director of the US-China Business Council. Roberta has served on six Board of Governors and currently serves as Co-Chair of the AmCham China Healthcare Committee.
Tim Stratford
Tim's career has spanned both government and the private sector. As a government official, he experienced both the high and low points of US-China relations including the success while at USTR of helping China undertake numerous reforms as a new member of the modern global trade system and the challenges of leading the US Beijing Embassy's commercial section at one of our most tense times in 1989-92. Tim currently is managing partner at Covington and Burling's Beijing office and previously served as China general counsel of GM. Tim has served multiple terms on AmCham China's Board of Governors including three times as Chairman.
Over the past decades, AmCham China has been able to rely on Roberta and Tim's collective wisdom. Join us as they reflect on the past 40 years of the US-China commercial relationship and their roles in it.
