AmCham China Southwest Chapter is pleased to invite you to an exclusive executive luncheon featuring a fireside chat with two distinguished members of the Board of Governors of the Chamber: Dr. Yang Hou, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft and Chairman and CEO of Microsoft GCR, and Justin Zhao, Vice President Policy & Government Affairs of Johnson & Johnson China. The session will be moderated by Albert Xu, Coโ€Founder & Coโ€CEO of Care Alliance, offering a valuable opportunity for member representatives from Southwest China to engage in an in-depth and insightful exchange.

    Dr. HOU Yang is a proven transformational leader with strong technology industry ecosystem development capabilities as well as local insight to enable customers. He is experienced across operations, product optimization and sales leadership with a strong track record in partner and customer engagement. A combination of strategic thinking and execution discipline has helped him deliver outsized growth in his career.
    Dr. HOU joined Microsoft in March 2021, where he is Corporate Vice President, the Chairman and CEO of Microsoft GCR, responsible for strategic leadership of sales, marketing, services and operations across the three subsidiaries that make up one of Microsoft’s most dynamic and innovative growth regions.
    Prior to Microsoft, Dr. HOU worked at Qualcomm for more than 8 years both in the US and China. His most recent role was as Senior Vice President of Qualcomm’s semiconductor business in China. During his tenure, the business experienced tremendous growth and more than tripled in revenue. He led a team which collaborated with telecom and mobile internet partners to migrate wireless technologies, deepened partnerships with leading Chinese corporations across industries from mobile to industrial to automotive and drove technology innovation together with a broad array of ecosystem partners in China. Prior to Qualcomm, he spent five years at McKinsey as a leader in their tech practice, based in the US.
    Dr. HOU grew up in Shenyang, China and received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Peking University and a PhD. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
    He lives in Beijing with his wife, son and daughter. He loves running marathons, hiking, and fishing.

    Justin ZHAO joined Johnson & Johnson in February 2023 as the Vice President of Government Affairs of Johnson & Johnson China, responsible for landing the GA&P strategy in China, leading the company’s policy advocacy and government engagement for shaping the regulatory environment and driving business growth.
    Justin brings extensive experience to his current role from his past public and diplomatic services, and over 18 years’ services at leading U.S. technology companies, including HP and most recently, Microsoft. Justin was Microsoft’s GA lead for China and worked for the company for 12 years, including 6 years at its global headquarters in Redmond. Prior to Microsoft, Justin had served as Government Affairs Director of China HP (2007-2011), Vice President of Swiss Reinsurance Beijing Office (2005-2007), and Policy Director of the United States Information Technology Office (2004-2005).
    Justin is also Member of the Board of Directors, Xi'an Janssen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine), Vice Chair of the Healthcare Equipment Working Group of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC), Member of the Board of Governors of AmCham China, and Council Member of Shanghai Foreign Investment Association.
    He received his Master of International Business from the University of Sydney and Bachelor of Economics from the University of International Business and Economics.

    Mr. Albert Xu co-founded Care Alliance in 2014 and currently serves as its Co-founder & Co-CEO. Care Alliance, a member of the New Frontier Group, is an integrated rehabilitation healthcare group that addresses a broad spectrum of rehabilitation needs and provides a comprehensive continuum of care across the entire life cycle-from cradle to armchair. Its service framework is built upon geriatric rehabilitation, distinguished by functional rehabilitation, centered on critical care rehabilitation, and complemented by home-based care. The group operates a range of rehabilitation facilities, including rehabilitation hospitals, geriatric hospitals, and pediatric rehabilitation centers. Care Alliance was among the first rehabilitation groups in China to establish a nationwide network, and includes a Tier III Class A rehabilitation hospital as well as a National Key Clinical Specialty among its institutions. Currently, the group operates 29 medical institutions with over 8,000 beds either in operation or under construction, spanning 16 cities across the country.
    Prior to founding Care Alliance, Mr. Xu worked in the private equity division of The Blackstone Group, where he was responsible for the evaluation, execution, and post-investment management of healthcare investments across Greater China. He played a key role in Blackstone’s first major investment in China’s healthcare sector. Earlier in his career, he was part of the investment banking team at Deutsche Bank in New York, contributing to several cross-border mergers, acquisitions, and financing projects. Mr. Xu has held various prominent roles, including standing committee member of the 12th Chengdu Federation of Industry and Commerce, standing committee member of the 7th Chenghua District People’s Congress of Chengdu, and deputy to the 8th Chenghua District People’s Congress. He also serves as standing committee member of the Rehabilitation Medicine Professional Committee of the Chinese Non-government Medical Institutions Association, Vice President of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch of the Shanghai Social Medical Institutions Association, executive committee member of the Sichuan Hong Kong Association, and Deputy Director of the First Council of the Medical Rehabilitation Management Subcommittee of the Sichuan Hospital Association. Recognized under Chengdu’s “Chenghua Elite Talent Program,” Mr. Xu was named one of the “2017 Top 10 New Economy Leaders in Sichuan” and featured in Forbes China’s 2018 “30 Under 30” list.
    Mr. Xu graduated from the University of Michigan in the United States and is currently a PhD candidate in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.
