    David Harmon

    Vice President for Global Affairs at Huawei Technologies

    David Harmon is the Vice – President for Global Public Affairs at Huawei Technologies. He has been based at the company’s headquarters in Shenzhen in China since November 2014. David is responsible for putting in place strategies within the ICT and digital agenda policy areas that enhance relations between Huawei Technologies and governments around the world. He is a regular speaker at conferences around the world on issues related to the best global practices in the field of the governance of the ICT sector and on future ICT trends.

    Between 2010 – 2014, he worked in Brussels as a member of the cabinet of the European Commissioner for research, innovation and science. In this capacity, he advised the European Commission on the best strategies that it should put in place within an international context concerning research, innovation and science matters. He was also the sherpa for the European Union at G8 summit meetings that dealt with these important policy issues.

    Between 1998 – 2010, David worked in Brussels as a political advisor in the European Parliament. He covered a diverse range of policy issues including in the areas of trade, the digital agenda, foreign affairs and industry. He was also director of press and communications for the main government party in Ireland for three referenda campaigns that dealt with the ratification of different European Union treaties in the years 2002, 2008 and 2009.

    David is a qualified lawyer, having graduated from the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland in 1998.

    Joanna Mao joined the United States Information Technology Office (USITO) in September 2015 serving as its Deputy Managing Director. Prior to that, Joanna was employed with Lenovo, Intel, A.P. Muller. Maersk, Microsoft and Ogilvy & Mather. She has 17 years of marketing, communication and partner management experience in the information technology sector, and while serving as spokeswoman, oversaw government affairs in North Asia. Joanna was once in investment banking, providing counseling for Chinese companies seeking overseas listings while serving for ING Baring.

Terms and Conditions

Attending an Event
Events have limited seating, so to ensure your attendance we encourage advance online registration and payment for ALL events. We cannot guarantee entry to anyone not registered in advance. Most of our events are in English and off the record, but please check the webpage for each event to avoid disappointment.

Advance Tickets and Discounts 
Members can receive a discount by purchasing an advance ticket at least 24 hours before the day of the event. You must pay online at the time of registering for the event to be eligible for a discount. Discounts will not be available to members at the door.

Receipts (fapiao) 
You can receive your fapiao when you arrive for an event provided that you buy an advance ticket and pay online at least 1 working day before the event and you provide the correct information for your fapiao at that time. You can leave details of the type of fapiao you need on the registration and payment page.

Event attendees can request a fapiao at the door or up to two months after the event. Requests made after that time will not be accommodated. Please contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.

Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend an event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than one business day prior to the event. If you fail to notify AmCham China of your cancellation in a timely fashion, you will forfeit the fee you have already paid.

To cancel you can: 1) cancel directly online through the EventBank platform on which you registered or 2) contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.

Privacy Policy
When you register for our events, we collect and use data about you according to our Privacy Policy. This may include contacting you about future events or other information we think you might be interested in.   • Access is valid for a one-year period starting from the date of purchase
