Let's have good wine and talk about politics!
Join five AmCham China leaders for happy hour drinks and talks about U.S trade policy on Thurday, April 13.
As kickoff for "Happy Hours & Politcs" series in 2017, we’re honored to invite Chairman of AmCham China Bill Zarit, accompanied by four seasoned experts in the field of US-China relations: Eric Emerson, Lester Ross, Randy Phillips and Timothy Stratford, to discuss and share their insights on U.S Trade Policy Under the Trump Administration.
Throughout his candidacy, Donald Trump promised to “get tough” on China – on currency manipulation, on trade deficits, on market access, and on investment. Since assuming office in January, President Trump’s rhetoric has continued, and has been echoed by President Trump’s nominees to head the U.S. Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative, as well as the head of his newly formed National Trade Council.
What the Trump Administration could do? What is it most likely to do, to make good on these threats against China? How China might respond, and what the impact could be for U.S. companies operating in the China? Eric Emerson will touch on those topics in his presentation, followed by a panel discussion.
DC Pre door-knock Trip
From February 6-8, in order to gain a better sense of how to serve AmCham membership in this changing political landscape, Chairman Bill Zarit led a delegation of former AmCham China chairmen: Les Ross, Randy Phillips and Tim Stratford on a visit to Washington, DC to engage with the new US administration and share their views on China. They spoke with new administration officials, career US Government trade experts, think tank veterans, and US corporation representatives.
The delegation would also like to take this opportunity to share their learnings and insights gained from the trip to AmCham members and also to share with members AmCham’s planned messaging for the upcoming DC Outreach and get your feedback on what priorities AmCham should be raising with the US administration in early May.
