In 2017, AmCham China is launching the “Global Distinguished Speaker Series,” a new platform to leverage the global resources of AmCham member companies, and connect our community in China with global thought leaders.

As the first in this series, AmCham is honored to host Dr. Neil C. Hawkins, Corporate Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of the Dow Chemical Company. Visiting China from Dow headquarters in the United States, Dr. Hawkins will share his insights about the global trend of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable business. He will also share industry best practices, speak about how business sustainability will be influenced by the Trump administration, and elaborate on Dow’s own practice in designing and implementing a sustainable strategy.

    Corporate Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at the Dow Chemical Company

    As the Chief Sustainability Officer and Corporate Vice President for The Dow Chemical Company, Dr. Hawkins drives strategy and implementation for Dow’s sustainability and EH&S programs, including the Company’s recently announced 2025 Sustainability Goals.

    Hawkins is a global leader in the private sector in sustainable business practices, EH&S management, and public policy platforms for global sustainable development, and is the architect of many breakthrough collaborations at the intersections of business, government and society. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR); a member of the International Olympics Committee Sustainability and Legacy Commission; chairman of WBCSD’s Green and Natural Infrastructure committee; and a member of the Committee on Global Policy and Government Affairs of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS). Additionally, he was recently appointed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as the first business representative to the High Level Group of the GEO-6 global environment assessment.

    Hawkins holds doctoral and master’s degrees from Harvard University, and is also an alumnus of Georgia Tech.

    Senior Researcher at The Conference Board Inc. Beijing Representative Office

    Anke Schrader leads China Center research on Corporate Citizenship, Sustainability and Human Capital. Her current research interests include corporate sustainability practices, measurement, and reporting, corporate citizenship and philanthropy engagement, civil society development, demographic changes in China and their implications for business and economic growth, China labor force evolution and development, and the evolving skill sets of China’s workforce. She is also responsible for coordinating China Center research programs, knowledge management and outreach activities to members, institutions, co-operators, and the public. Anke graduated from the University of Konstanz, Germany with a master’s degree in Public Policy and Management.

Attending an Event
Events have limited seating, so to ensure your attendance we encourage advance online registration and payment for ALL events. We cannot guarantee entry to anyone not registered in advance.
Most of our events are in English and off the record, but please check the webpage for each event to avoid disappointment.

Advance Tickets and Discounts
Members can receive a discount by purchasing an advance ticket at least 24 hours before the day of the event. You must pay online at the time of registering for the event to be eligible for a discount.
Discounts will not be available to members at the door.

Receipts (fapiao)
You can receive your fapiao when you arrive for an event provided that you buy an advance ticket and pay online at least 1 working day before the event and you provide the correct information for your fapiao at that time. You can leave details of the type of fapiao you need on the registration and payment page.
 
Event attendees can request a fapiao at the door or up to two months after the event. Requests made after that time will not be accommodated. Please contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.
 
Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend an event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than one business day prior to the event. If you fail to notify AmCham China of your cancellation in a timely fashion, you will forfeit the fee you have already paid.

To cancel you can: 1) cancel directly online through the Eventbank platform on which you registered or 2) contact the AmCham China staff member responsible for organizing your event.
