Event Details

Starting November 29, 2016, all U.S. visa holders with an unrestricted, maximum validity (normally 10-year validity) B1, B2, or combination B1/B2 visas issued to PRC passport holders must be enrolled in a valid Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS) to travel to the United States. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) anticipates launching the EVUS platform for early enrollments in mid-October in China.

The U.S. Embassy will be providing a briefing to AmCham members on the Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS) platform and relevant issues. The head briefing will come from Christine Paker, visiting from the Bureau of Consular Affairs in Washington. She is visiting the U.S. Mission in China to help with EVUS promotion in advance of its rollout on 29th of NOV 2016.

Please be noted that this is only relevant to Chinese who want to travel to the United States.

Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS) Background:
In November 2014, as part of the reciprocal arrangement to extend visa validity for tourists and business travelers to 10 years/multiple entries, the governments of the United States and China mutually recognized that the United States would require Chinese citizens periodically and electronically to update biographical information submitted in their original visa applications. To implement this aspect of the agreement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) developed and will launch the Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS).
