This course is intended for Government Affairs (GA) practitioners who are seeking to deepen their understanding of business advocacy and best practices. Specifically, the program focuses on how to identify the right stakeholders, build win-win solutions, and communicate effectively with their internal & external stakeholders.

Course Outline:

Government Affairs: From Good to Great:
What has changed in the New Normal, and how should GA professionals be prepared for the new challenges?
How to think strategically about government affairs?

External Stakeholder Mapping
When presented with a specific advocacy goal, how to design advocacy strategy, who to engage and how to find “win-win” opportunities?
How to establish a systematic and professional government relations network to achieve the business objective?

Internal Stakeholder Management and Communication:
How to engage and influence different functions so that they can support advocacy goals?
How to craft concise talking points for senior executives from headquarters?
How to present to senior executives with logic and assertiveness?

How is this course different from other trainings?

1. Practical: It is designed by GA practitioners and conducted by GA practitioners. It is loaded with best practices and offers operational templates that can serve as a practical guide
2. Hands on: The learning is experience-based and hands-on. Participants will be presented with scenarios based on real cases, and they are required to analyze which external stakeholder they can leverage to solve the issues and why. Learning points are delivered through case studies, simulations, role playing, and feedback in an interactive discussion.
3. Sustainable: This is the first AmCham training program that offers mentoring and coaching to the participants, so they can achieve long-term sustainable growth. A group of highly respected GA and business leaders will serve as mentors to share their experience and best practices during the training session. And specifically what values does coaching offer?
• Clarify thinking processes based on massive information, knowledge and experiences and translate them into business language.
• Think about GA from broader business perspectives and reach high level of empathy with business partners.
• Raise level of self-confidence when communicating with business executives.
• Remain comparatively neutral and cool in dealing with conflicts between business and government in order to constantly explore alternatives.
• Or/and developing areas that line managers expect and align with participants.

Feedback from Participants
